      • tru
      • wolfsong13|away
do you have the disc in hand?
      • tru
yes, same same on the cover as it is there.
      • wolfsong13|away
        hmmm
      • as printed it isn't very informative
      • i would say go with from group
      • tru

      • wolfsong13|away

      • this is a good test case
      • tru
I am not looking forward to importing this: http://www.discogs.com/release/658642
      • wolfsong13|away
the remix structure is wacky too
      • wolfsong13|away cringes at the mention of discogs
      • i'll take your word for it
      • tru
need to find a better source then discogs I guess.
      • wolfsong13|away
        no not necessarily
      • i just don't like the culture in that project
      • tru

      • mustaqila
Eeeh, he needs to get with the times and use Picard, rather than MBTagger
      • synkro

        the internet is serious business
      • nechto13
alright, i guess. today at work my talkative manager was holding a meeting in the hallway next to my desk so i didn't get as much work done as i was hoping to. she really likes to talk for hours about nothing for some reason
      • synkro
        most women do
      • mustaqila
Haha, was about to say that mself
      • synkro
        it's genetic
      • nechto13
at our weekly meetings at work everyone is afraid to comment because that could get her started for hours and the meeting is an hour before lunch time
      • synkro
well legally you get a lunch if you work 8 hours. (at least in the US) so think of it as a long break.
      • hell, chat her up
      • ask how her cats are. she sounds like a cat person
      • Coeus has quit
      • nechto13
synkro: she can't be beat. when i talk i'm actually talking on a certain topic i'm incapable of going for hours without saying anything like she is. one time someone asked her a yes or no question and she went on for half an hour about it. besides that's really unfair to the other 20 hungry people in our department :)
      • synkro
it's not the gulag. they'll eat eventually
      • nechto13
that meeting she had near my desk went on for 3 hours. at least she reched a decision, which usually doesn't happen. so it wasn't a completely lost cause
      • synkro
        progress takes time
      • steam engine wasn't invented overnight!
      • nechto13
oh well, we are actually reaching decisions on these things so it's not as bad as a month ago. maybe in a couple of months she'll be able to do that in a period of an hour
      • anyways. i actually have a question :) if the cover for my russian album says disc 1 in russian do i put it in russian or in english?
      • synkro
what are your feelings on the matter?
      • nechto13
synkro: frustration i guess. you haven't heard it from me, but i don't think she is a good boss. :P she can take in input from others, but she can't or doesn't want to make a decision based on the input. she wants us (developers) to reach a consenus, but if we were capable of that i don't think we'd need her
      • synkro
lol. i'm talking about the question you had.
      • all women are frustrating and annoying at times.
      • mustaqila
        *people
      • nechto13
umm, i have no preference either way. if someone thinks disc in english is better than disc in russian that's what i'll put. i'd leave it in russian for consistancy with the cover
      • synkro
people are ok unless they are customers or in groups.
      • i would say go with your gut feeling on that situation, nechto13
      • mustaqila
I personally would say to put it in English
      • As it's not really part of the titles as such, nor artist intent for the style either, but just a way in which to distinguish it as the first disc
      • synkro
        looks like a dilemna
      • mustaqila
And as it's Russian, it makes sense to add that sort of information in Russian
      • nechto13
muz, alright i'll put it in english than. it will be the only word that non-russian speakers will understand on the release. but i think you are right about it not being part of artist intent
      • synkro
some decent tunes come out of the motherland.
      • mustaqila
Note, that's solely my opinion and I'm taking no blame! :P
      • synkro
        that's mustaqila [at last.fm]
      • mustaqila
        Hmmm?
      • synkro
be sure to put that in the tag
      • just contact info!
      • mustaqila
        Hah
      • nechto13 wonders of whose motherland synkro is talking about
      • The motherland?
      • synkro
        cccr
      • mustaqila goes to sort out some sort of meal
      • well the fatherland is germany
      • fish and chips are a crowd favorite
      • nechto13
synkro: there is a great deal of good music that came out of soviet union, but i didn't suppose a lot of people from outside are familiar with it
      • mustaqila coughs a t.A.T.u.
      • synkro: i guess classical aficianados would be familiar with soviet classical music, but not popular russian music. out of curiosity are you familiar with popular soviet music?
      • mustaqila
Hmmm, I've got a small handful of Russian music, as well as music that isn't from Russia, but is in Russian
      • synkro
        haha
      • tatu. eh
      • nechto13
muz: i wouldn't consider tatu to be good music and even if i did. that's actually russian pop, not soviet
      • synkro
        lots of russian pop
      • mustaqila
The t.A.T.u. remark was a sort of joke :P
      • synkro
i have some moon far away
      • caprice is a good ukranian band
      • former soviets!
      • if i wanted to name drop, i'd ask my bulgarian friends. =/
      • nechto13
synkro: if you are curious about soviet music i could throw some links your way, depending on the genre you like
      • synkro
i like most everything electronic or folk/ethereal
      • moon far away is neofolk band out of siberia
      • my friggin fonts are screwing up
      • http://prikosnovenie.com/inde.shtml good label. i've bought quite a few from them over the years.
      • but mostly i listen to electro/futurepop/EBM
      • nechto13
synkro: electronic music is actually somewhat new invention. there weren't a lot of it during soviet times. but here's a link http://www.zvuki.ru/M/P/15714 to some soviet electronic music, tell me if you need help parsing the page. i don't know if you'll like the music, but it's by one of the more famous soviet electronic orchestras. this type of music was usually featured in soviet comedies of the '60s i guess
      • inhouseuk has quit
      • synkro
haha. no nothing that old is good
      • inhouseuk joined the channel
      • good to me, i should say
      • i'll link you to some
      • nechto13
synkro: well soviet union hasn't existed for 15 years now. you can't expect it to be that ahead of the curve, especially since in terms of electronic equipment it was always behind US
      • synkro
haha. russia's come a long way
      • nechto13
besides this is a 1969 release
      • synkro
        yes i know
      • nechto13
synkro: if you want something current. i can give you some links too. do you like trip-hop?
      • synkro
some is ok. i like hungry lucy
      • portishead is ok. not great
      • autohypnosis is a good new band that's kind of trip hop-y
      • Autohypnosis' sound is a mixture of '80s synthpop (Duran Duran, Depeche Mode), '90s trip-hop (Portishead, Sneaker Pimps), '70s atmospheric rock (Pink Floyd, David Bowie) and electronic-oriented music of the new millennium (Radiohead, Frou Frou, The Postal Service).
      • nechto13
      • synkro
        yeah that's not bad
      • that girl on the cover in the band or just some girl for the cover
