derived forms are bound to change, borrowed words tend to either be accepted as they are (english took cliche even though we'd probably write cleesh if it were an english word, japanese always adapts words, e.g. terebishon)

languages which are pronounced very regularly tend to adapt new words to fit the language, when you don't, you end up with all the exceptions english has

and of course we have words from old norse that kept even as we had to adopt danish as the common language
