dmp_panda: well, the first place I saw capitalised surnames was my french penpal years ago, but that was only when she wrote her address on the envelope...
nikki_: we do that for "lisibility" reasons, as most time using CAPS avoid idiosyncrasy and mistakes (official papers and such)
readibility ?
nikki_
probably
Shepard
lesbarkeit :D
nikki_
I figured it was that much
dmp_panda
but it's nowhere a convention to use it for surnames
nikki_
by their logic, we should also capitalise transliterated names from japanese...
Shepard
let's do that :)
nikki_
'cause they often capitalise the surname so people understand which name is which (since some people use surname forename and others use forename surname)
but that's silly since our sortnames easily point out the surname
dmp_panda
definitely
nikki_ (or in that matter, anybody english competent) - what do you think is the proper way to spell/cap "T'ain't Nobody's Business if I Do"
catgroove
lesbarhet :o
dmp_panda
specially the 'Tain't T'Aint part,
catgroove
't'ain't ?
sinche its i n the first part T'ain't I'd say
dmp_panda
I like T'ain't
catgroove
defintily not T'Ain't
Shepard
thanks for the votes
dmp_panda goes give some love to Coluche-Shepard :)
nikki_ would use a lowercase 't' because it's short for "It"
you could also fix the rest of this artist, panda ;)
dmp_panda
dmp_panda is now known as toolate_thepanda
toolate_thepanda
toolate_thepanda is now known as dmp_panda
dmp_panda
I tried to escape but it failed :)
Shepard
oh nooo! my tool ate the panda!
wait, what? :)
dmp_panda
lol
btw, what's the state of the art with this french-cap flame war / editing wiki without discussion stuff?
Shepard
no idea, I don't read it since I can't help there anyways :)
dmp_panda
well, the question is to turn "should" into "must"... I don't really care... still it might require quite extra work...
Shepard: btw Coluche was an humorist. So I guess spokenword is the most appropriate?
Shepard
no idea, I don't know anything :)
dmp_panda
lol
dmp_panda takin' off - ciao people! bonne après-midi à tous!
