http://musicbrainz.org/showmod.html?modid=4375641 <--- Does anybody else have this CD? I have it sitting right in front of me and the tracks listed fit with CD 1 not CD 2, so I changed the album name...
yllona
shep: see how the CD "Just as I Am / Still Bill" appears as official compilation?
Shepard
yes
that's what I meant, some seem to be wrong listed
but I don't know about him
yllona
i would think of this as official album.
it's a release of two complete albums, each out of print individually
Shepard
change to to what you think fits best
also a lot of albums missing it seems
yllona
yes. he's really prolific, and still actively recording
bill wither s has been "re-discovered" by young ppl as a smooth jazz artist
yllona silently gags on "smooth jazz"
Malnilion
Oh wow, hey Shepard...what do you do when different 2-disc editions of the same release have the CDs in different order?
Shepard
add them as separate albums
Malnilion
But they're like the same release, it's very strange...
Shepard
if you can proof that there are two different versions with different tracklistings, add them as separate albums

THANKS MUCH to nikki_ & inhouseuk for creating the bogus release date report... *ALL* done!! Yeah :)
huh... i see nikki isn't here to celebrate
inhouseuk
fantantic
how many were there in the end?
teleGUISE_
umm... lots :)
actually what I did was worked off nikki_'s report which had 112 then crossed it with yours
which had i believe 4 or 5 others that were bogus as well... leaving i think if you run your report again around 4 or 5 still that are German releases
so 117 total ...
inhouseuk
there are 12 left on my report
teleGUISE_
would that have been at this minute or a few hour old data? Not sure when the last of my edits passed
ok never mind ... duh.. I can just look at the report :)
inhouseuk
replication runs on the hour and I grab the updates at 7 minutes past
teleGUISE_
i wondered how that worked.. so you dont grab the entire db every time you just grab updates and apply them.. is that right??
ok fixed those 2 others now!... whew.. so there were upwords of 120 bad dates which needed research for the correct ones, around 90+ that needed ASIN AR's added, around 15-20 that needed language and album attributes set
pankkake
:)
teleGUISE_
i had marked it all down.. but threw the print-out out last night... when not wanting to see it ever again :)
there were some classical issues which i wasnt sure about... (regarding whether they were correct) which i mentioned .. not sure if anyone looked
http://www.musicbrainz.org/showmod.html?modid=4... actually if i can get some votes on this date removal in the interim, since.. zout is making things difficult to whether the album should be removed or not :)
any Jethro Tull'ers on.. that can verify a single 45 track release exists?
except in concert, you cooldn't get a 45 minute track on an a single side of an LP
45 minutes is even long for tull in concert, 15-20 minutes maybe
teleGUISE_
it adds up to the same time the split release totals.. which was the last link i posted.. so that was my guess that it is a homebrew single track version of the real split one
The original LP had two tracks due to 2 LP sides. The original CD had the song split in two just like the LP. Then there's that 4-track reissue with the live and interview tracks.

inhouseuk: not sure I want this but how hard would it be to now scour US release dates that aren't tuesday's .. obviously only the ones with complete dates??
HairMetalAddict
I'm almost certain I recall a pressing of Thick with it all as one track, but it was a long time back and I'm not really a fan so I've forgotten details. Hard to google for it too.
yllona
teleguise: that's not a golden rule for US releases
teleGUISE_
if it's valid let me know and ill delete the edit.. I just based it off of the looks of it and everything i found
yllona: yes I know... but probably 90% of what will be entered here would fall into it
HairMetalAddict
That appears to be only 1 track. Could just be an Amazon hose-up..
teleGUISE_
im not going to change anything uncertain... im guessing ill find a lot US dates that are entered on Mondays.. aka the UK ones and things of that nature
amazon lists that type of stuff alot.. ill see the amazon us site list UK dates and the amazon UK site list the US date
Bad_Seed joined the channel
it was interesting to see that about 80-90% of the bogus 1990-10-25 US amazon dates found, that they were shown to be released in 1988 or 1989

i'd say 1988, 1989, 1985, 1984 in order
yllona: you know i've sent 4 emails... so far and noboby besides mail bots answered me.. regarding release day's and how it all became
yllona
IIRC amazon had a pretty serious data load hitch in the late '90s ('98) it's in the annual report, "technology risks"
tele: e-mail to AMZ?
teleGUISE_
i've asked AMG, BillBoard & Sony
Sony BMG i believe ... or some sony label site
i even proposed it as I was student doing a research paper and wanted to know how it all works :)
yllona
send me the e-mail, and i'll make a couple of phone calls. i may not get the "official" story, but it will be close enough for a working model.
teleGUISE_
which is kind of true cuz i really -do- want to know
yllona
me too.

which will leave 7 .. pretty close to my guesstimate of 4-5 :)
teleGUISE_: regarding release dates not tuedays, it can be done but it is a fair amount of work, If I get time during the week I'll have a look
Shepard
as long as he doesn't do that for german releases :)
inhouseuk
no, I'll set it specific for US
Shepard
I mean more because he still thinks .de has special release dates, too. which is bullshit
