      • cool so making a UK monday report will be a piece of cake.... ehhmmm yea like ill ever get through this US one anytime soon
      • quick classical ? so i dont have to read all the classical rules.. is something ilke this no longer correct - http://www.mb.inhouse.co.uk/album/f83bc39e-673f...
      • meaning the (feat. conductor) should be taken out the title and added as an AR
      • yllona
        and the feat. singer?
      • inhouseuk isn't up with the classical styleguides
      • teleGUISE_ thinks classical guidelines should be left for learning on another rainy day... verrry rainy day
      • teleGUISE_
yllona were you asking.. or were you saying the (feat. singer) should be too?
      • yllona
        asking, sorry
      • teleGUISE_
well u did put a ? mark after it :).. just wasnt sure
      • who's usually the irc classical guru.. chocomo and ????
      • yllona
        clutcher2
      • Shepard

      • ruaok: ping
      • teleGUISE_
        pong
      • Shepard
        is your nick ruaok?
      • teleGUISE_
        i was looking for pong
      • he's not on right now though
      • mustaqil_
        Ping Pong ist krieg
      • Shepard
        AAAAHHH!
      • teleGUISE_
yllona any of the artists on inhouse's not a tuesday us report any you know and I want to help with :) ??
      • Shepard
        Parsing error: Bad grammar
      • teleGUISE_
        oops -I
      • yllona
teleGUISE_: could you post inhouseuk's link again, i lost it. had connection problems
      • inhouseuk
      • teleGUISE_
ok now im really going to push my luck... inhouseuk: could you maybe make it alphabetical as well as chronological :)
      • meaning each artist grouped together .. listing the albums chronologically .. artists from a - z
      • inhouseuk
it is alpha for artist on the same date
      • so you want the first sort term to be artist and then date?
      • teleGUISE_
well yeah.. thats a start :)-- figured i was pushing my luck... but would be easier to work with.. since then you can work on each artist as a whole instead of hop scotching? around
      • yes...
      • so artist Arse and all their albums chrono then artist Bumb and their albums, Foobar their albums and so on through Zebra and their albums chrono

      • inhouseuk
        nope
      • yllona
        'k
      • teleGUISE_
shepard: do you use a cover search engine? curious cuz i need to fill in some of my personal releases without having to scan them
      • yllona
        inhouseuk: XML?
      • inhouseuk
as XML would be as much coding as RSS
      • teleGUISE_
got to give it to her for trying :)
      • yllona
inhouseuk: postgres doesn't generate XML from a query result set?
      • inhouseuk
        not that I'm aware off
      • of
      • yllona
'k. i thought that was possible, maybe i'm dreaming :)
      • teleGUISE_
ok now could i get it from z- a with release dates from oldest to newest??
      • THAT WAS A JOKE!!!
      • figured youd tell me to turn my screen upside down :)

teleGUISE_: i'm suspicious of this: http://musicbrainz.org/album/42e38d0b-9c66-4204...
      • teleGUISE_ was wondering if anyone thought that was funny
      • teleGUISE_
yllona: oh yea.. those are nice giveaways.. 2002 and 1991 would be the -only- possible correct ones
      • well and 2008 but there shouldnt be any of those in the db
      • oqp has quit
      • yllona
this is a compilation as the tracks a pulled fromm at least 6-7 albums. most from the stax catalog from the early '70s
      • it's an import of some sort.
      • teleGUISE_
so its also a comp and not album then your saying
      • yllona
      • teleGUISE_
well there you go 2003-01-27 UK not 2003-01-01 US
      • Bad_Seed has quit
      • yllona: and if your really feeling ambitious then add the ASIN image link to those.. and youll see why it becomes a really fun involved project :) oh and label & catalog #'s too
      • yllona
i'm not ambitious today, sorry. i'll bookmark the list though :)
      • teleGUISE_
i was just joking.. of course if you decide to help ... It's GREATLY appreciated if not... your a smart gal :) ..
      • of course if you do your still smart.. just not very wise :)-
      • yllona
today is not goood, this is a late night task.
      • teleGUISE_
        if you help that is
      • no prob... being UK updates at 7minutes past the hour we shouldnt have any problems overlapping if you do dive in
      • yllona
this is 1995, and is a [special market/special product] release: http://musicbrainz.org/album/9ff30df7-e578-4615...
      • teleGUISE_
ok thanks.. i added the annotation not the date originally :)-
      • BMG Special Markets would still be possibly US??? or NO?
      • yllona
        BMG is now Sony.
      • teleGUISE_
so it very well can be a 1995 US release then?? Never knew what 'market' was special exactly when they used that term
      • yllona
it was orginally issued by MCA, which was acquired by Columbia, which was acquired by Sony, which merged with BMG :P
      • Shepard
      • teleGUISE_
yllona: yea that mess Sony/Columbia/MCA/BMG/Epic/Jive/Arista/RCA etc... what a mess
      • yllona
special market / special product is an album created for a purpose of some sort... in this case due to all the mergers and acquisitions, some of Mahalia's previously unreleased material -- even on LP was made available
      • for the first time ever, that's why it's "special product", these tracks were all recorded in the '50s
      • lilo
[Global Notice] Hi all. If you're having problems with the Netgear/Linksys router exploit, please try connecting to freenode on port 8001 instead of port 6667 .... more info: http://tinyurl.com/op26n (bandwidth limited, apologies in advance)
      • teleGUISE_
shepard: thanks.. i didnt know if you used one main source... i use this lots of times http://www.mega-search.net/
      • Shepard
cover-paradies is what I mostly use. it's probably a bit .de centered. freecovers is also ok
      • teleGUISE_
yllona: So it's kind of a classification of type of music meaning a compilation of early recordings.. but also sort of a marketing thing then?
      • yllona
yes.. we need to add "special market" and "special product" to release types
      • teleGUISE_
        oh no we don't :)-
      • yllona
these type of albums are commemorative releases usually -- marking an event of some sort. anniversary of birth/death, acquisition of catalog.
      • stuff like that
      • teleGUISE_
ah.. now it makes sense.. after the death a special release comes out.. or when a label gets rights to an artists releases they release their own special compilation
      • yllona
this is a "special market" release issued almost immediately after lou died
      • he had recently signed to "right stuff" and transferred his catalog
      • right stuff is a "small" a label and beat the majors to release.
      • teleGUISE_
got it.. so "Right Stuff" having the rights released a special comp after he died
      • yllona
        yeah.
      • notice there are none of his huge '70s/80s hits on this CD...
      • teleGUISE_
and Right Stuff is not owned by a major?
      • yllona
i think it's distributed by a major, which is diffrent than publishing
      • teleGUISE_
do labels have indefinite rights to releases unless transferred? or does it all depends on of course how the contract was set up
      • you always see comps... with tracks stating music courtesy of ....
      • yllona
contract mostly. lou rawls was smarter than most artists though
      • right stuff is a subsdiary of EMI music distribution, like i thought
      • teleGUISE_
this is kind of a nice all in one list.. though they didnt have Right Stuff listed - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_label
      • yllona
        it's not amajor
      • strictly vintage R & B/Soul reissues
      • teleGUISE_
well i dont think many of them on the list are majors... i think thats just the wiki name
      • huh.. they even have a little bit on catalog numbering for several labels http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalog_numbering_...
      • yllona
        i love this site for R & B / Soul http://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/
      • teleGUISE_
from that article is it correct to assume anything EMI Music should be US and EMI Group UK
      • yllona
        that article doesn't reflect M & A since 1998
      • and EMI has had extensive merger activity since then
      • teleGUISE_
ahh.. see the date at the top now ;)
      • thats a pretty long 'partial' list .. as it says
      • yllona
inhouseuk: if I bookmark this list, will it update every week, or will I need a new URL?
      • inhouseuk
yllona: it performs the query on the fly
      • yllona
        ok, awesome
      • teleGUISE_
sorry thats what i meant earlier by UK updates every 7 minutes past the hour as in inhouse ...
      • yllona
        okay, thx
      • teleGUISE_
though i guess i shouldnt have assumed he would run my report for ever :)-
      • yllona: it will be great having your assistance on whatever you decide to tackle.. with your proficiency for certain artists and genre
      • yllona
AMG has the US release date of Sept 26, 2000 for this: http://musicbrainz.org/album/3f01151f-128f-470a...
      • teleGUISE_
ah.. azertus again.. i already yelled at him once :) ... just jokin
      • yllona
okay, that's all for now. i'll keep an eye on the list. it's easy late night/can't sleep stuff :-D
      • teleGUISE_
yep sep 26,2000 tuesday march 1,2001 thrusday
      • great.. just be sure to let someone know when u jump in.. so we can all vote and get them handled
      • yllona
        will do
      • teleGUISE_
huh... that has a german release date as sep 26,2000
      • yllona
yeah, it's switched up some kinda way. i can't read german...
      • to search fr the correct info
      • teleGUISE_
wonder if thats correct... or was the US Import date for germany..
      • in which im guessing since azertus did both...
      • though its confusing cuz amazon lists it as a US import
      • yllona
check the label Chapter III, if they have a site. or a detailed fan page... lalo schifrin is a rather famous jazz composer/arranger, does lots of film/TV. he wrote the original Mission Impossible theme
      • fot the TV series
      • *for the TV series
      • in the '70s
      • and many others
      • teleGUISE_
guess need to see if chapter iii is a german label
      • http://www.allrecordlabels.com/ this seems kind of neat.. not sure if anyone knows about this
      • orogor has quit
      • SenRepus joined the channel
      • hmmm... chapter III does appear to be german.... so maybe the US date is incorrect and it should only be DE
      • damn germans releasing crap on tuesdays to screw with us
      • since being made aware from zout about imdb ar links omitting the www out of curiousity does anyone know why
      • Shepard
        no, I wondered too
      • and it doesn't seem to make any difference
      • whereas for discogs the subdomains make a difference
      • teleGUISE_
does inhouse have a little bit of wisdom on www vs. non links and what it means in general ?
      • could it be domain registration?
