oh, first time i found her she had no aliases so i figured it would be 2 mods either way

and this method is arguably wrong, really, but im not going to vote against it for someone who is actually participating and learning rather than just coming by once to tag their songs and screw up the database

even with everyone using picard the encoding has to be supported by the OS otherwise renaming in different encodings is useless for saving and renaming purposes

I downloaded picard and I still had giberish in artist names in windows

and I have russian installed and type in it all the time

correct, also the hardware or software that is used to play the files needs to support id3v2.4 and utf

yeah UNICODE isn't supported well in windows

and don't even get me started on mp3 players

by the way ipod has no russian support

that's why I think maybe it would be better to transliterate artist names in all unsupported scripts and have aliases with right encoding

with artist names at least you have the choice of using the sortname which should be in latin script

with tracknames that option isn't currently available

you still get gibberish in the artist name in id3 tag and there's not much that can be done about that

you can set picard to use the sortname instead of the artistname

ummm, maybe not in the tag though, it might be only for the directory/file names

nope, I use a bunch of perl scripts over the top of the libmusicbrainz library on FreeBSD, at the time I started to use musicbrainz the tagger wasn't available for unix

also, I tag the files as part of the ripping/encoding process straight from CD

for automoderators the situation is even worse, we can add a relationship without it going to a vote, but removes always need voting on

for you, it is easier to delete the original mod that is adding the relationship and resubmit it correctly

as automoderateor, can you choose if a mod should be auto (without voting) or not?
