anyone encouter issues w/ mb not tagging a file? I've run into an issue at least 1 out of 3 albums I tag, where all but 2 or 3 of the files get tagged.

to get the missed files to be tagged, I enter misc data in the album field and have mb overwrite the bogus tag i entered

nod, known probably I think

lets hope

whats odd is, even blanking out a files tag doesnt mean mb will tag it, it takes some type of entry into one of the fields
2003-09-01 24423, 2003
synack
and its chronic to a particular mp3, trying to have mb tag it 3, or 4 times does no good

next version of the client uses a totally new taging library, so hopefully it'll just go away
2003-09-01 24452, 2003
synack
does 10.0test3 use that lib?
2003-09-01 24455, 2003
dvtoo
yes
2003-09-01 24403, 2003
dvtoo
it seems to have, uh, a few bugs though =)
2003-09-01 24402, 2003
synack
yeah, and i think that tag skipping one still exists
2003-09-01 24426, 2003

i tried i last night, and i'm 85% certain i still had the issue. I had to stop using it when it didnt rename my files :)
2003-09-01 24403, 2003
dvtoo
yeah, I've had no luck tracking that one down. tagger is such a total pain in the ass to debug
2003-09-01 24410, 2003
synack
but i can't really complain. the program is freaking great
2003-09-01 24430, 2003
synack
how's come?
2003-09-01 24439, 2003
synack
(hard to debug, that is)
2003-09-01 24400, 2003
dvtoo
because tagger is written in borland c++ builder 5, and everything else is compiled in msvc, and they don't seem to understand each other's debug info
2003-09-01 24450, 2003
synack
borland c++? sweet mother
2003-09-01 24456, 2003
synack
ugh
2003-09-01 24416, 2003
synack
are there plans to rewrite tagger?
2003-09-01 24428, 2003
dvtoo
yes
2003-09-01 24431, 2003
dvtoo
later in the fall
2003-09-01 24437, 2003
synack
sweet
2003-09-01 24417, 2003
synack
while im listing off issues :)

when using mb to tag filles on a mapped network drive, it looooooves to crash
2003-09-01 24458, 2003
dvtoo
oh, huh, maybe that's why ruoak can't reproduce it
2003-09-01 24402, 2003
dvtoo
but yeah, that's definitely true
2003-09-01 24428, 2003
dvtoo
I do all my tagging that way, I never thought about that as a factor
2003-09-01 24438, 2003
dvtoo
you've tested it both ways?
2003-09-01 24444, 2003
synack
yeah, running tagger locally on the machine w/ the mp3s no crash
2003-09-01 24455, 2003
synack
running tagger on a diff machine and tagging to a mapped drive...crash
2003-09-01 24405, 2003
synack
its maybe once in every ..5 or 6 albums
2003-09-01 24445, 2003
synack
the source and dest for the tag/rename is the same mapped drive
2003-09-01 24459, 2003
synack
If that makes sense
2003-09-01 24452, 2003
dvtoo
yeah, I've definitely seen the bug before, I know exactly whaty you mean
2003-09-01 24402, 2003

Heh, when I was just getting started w/ this project to id3 tag all my mp3s, and trying out .10.0test3, I saw the alternate dir structure for "VA" titles and though, interesting. Now that i've done a few VA's w/ .90, i want that feature :(
{global notice} Hi all, we had some slight problems with one of our main hubs, things seem to be ok for now. any further messages will be given in wallops. thank you for using freenode!
