So I am trying to add an Indian movie's soundtrack to MusicBrainz. First, I add a Release Group for that Movie, correct?
kepstin
opatel99: you generally should start directly on the 'add release' page; the release editor tool will create a new release group if you can't find an existing one that matches.
opatel99
kepstin: Ok. Thanks.
kepstin: I am on the Add Release page, There are multiple artists. I am now adding a release group, and For Artists: do I just comma separate multiple artists?
kepstin
if you have multiple artists, click the edit button at the right side of the field to enter them individually.
the editor will automatically fill in the punctuation to look like "Artist A, Artist B & Artist C", but you can manually change it if that's wrong for the language.

kepstin: Is wikipedia a ok for the edit note if I also have my parents with me to verify the information (It's a movie from when they were young)
kepstin
sure, that's fine. the edit note is to tell other people where you got your information from, so they can better judge the edits you've made.
opatel99
And for Artist, do we add singers, lyricist, musician(background) or all of the above?
kepstin
it depends on the type of music, but for a movie soundtrack with a lot of vocal songs (singing), i'd use the singers only.
opatel99
and add them for the individual release?
kepstin
you can add credits for the lyricists and musicians later in a different field
opatel99
kepstin: What is script?
kepstin
script is the type of writing used on the release. e.g. english letters are "latin script"
opatel99
Hindi is Devanagari?
kepstin
i think so, but I don't know very much about languages in india.
opatel99
January 1st is not often the actual release date, please double check that you have entered the release date correctly. <-- Lol. This time it was.
kepstin: What about tracklist? Is that in order of appearance in the movie?
kepstin
opatel99: it should be the order of the tracks on the soundtrack release that you're referencing (tape, cd, vinyl, whichever)
opatel99
kepstin: I'm referencing the movie.
Hindi releases don't really work like "albums," but they come with the movies. Like musicals... Every single one is pretty much a musical.
kepstin
what media did it come on? e.g. do you get a dvd with a cd?

Does anyone have the 2015-08-06 VM working?
I thought I'd use that instead of installing by hand to save time, but now I've spent half a day trying to fix it and I'm running out of steam...
Trying to connect to the XML web service on the VM just returns:
Can't connect to 127.0.0.1:9009 (Connection refused) LWP::Protocol::http::Socket: connect: Connection refused at /usr/share/perl5/LWP/Protocol/http.pm line 41, line 7.
Seems like it's expecting the renderer service to be running, but there're no services or anything installed, and the install docs don't mention anything about it either
I also can't for the life of me work out how the templating system is injecting port 5000 into every link and script/css reference, since I'd like to run it behind a reverse proxy - setting WEB_SERVER, WEB_SERVER_SSL and/or setting MUSICBRAINZ_USE_PROXY=1 before restarting seems to make zero difference
But the web service is the main show-stopper

Okay, for anyone who stumbles across this later with similar problems - the daemontools run script uses `exec` to start the plackup instance, so setting MUSICBRAINZ_USE_PROXY must be added to the script directly inside the exec call to make it through to the server
And to get the web service running, I had to install the node dependencies with `npm install` from the musicbrainz-server dir, because a bunch of them were missing from the VM image
After that, the server.js process is started automatically during plackup and response to requests correctly (though, visiting /ws/2/ does result in an error - I presume this is rewritten to somewhere else by the prod nginx config)
Eh, it is probably the last time Kiss would perform live there. :-)
I also found several references to the Cobo Arena being at "300 Civic Center Dr". Maybe that's the address of the arena rather than the convention center?

Anyway, I certainly have no objections to the edit apart from the date. If it reopens it'll be easy enough to change again.
(or rather, if there are live performances there in the future)
