Okay, i cannot find anything that matches in "Existing medium" or "CD stub import", so i'm left with "Manual entry", with a blank freestyle text input box. How do i format that text?

SothoTalKer
depends on the language of your release :)

hierosme: I'm talking about adding via the website, not via picard
SothoTalKer
hierosme: in the "manual entry" mode you can put in a simple tracklist
you can leave it blank, too, and then add the tracks manually in the form
but the format is usually: tracknumber. artist - title tracklength
hierosme
SothoTalKer: thanks, i ledft it blank and clicked again on "add medium", it took me to the form to add tracks, this time with a 2nd list for "medium 2", so that's good, thanks. But i wish that i didn't have to input all that stuff manually, since RB and SJ knew the titles, i was hoping for the list to be there somehow
So that's why i sought Picard, but it's not helping either
SothoTalKer
what is RB and SJ?
hierosme
As mentioned in my very 1st comment, "Rhythmbox" and "Sound Juicer"
SothoTalKer
picard is sadly limited to add 1 medium per release. you could add 5 separate releases and then merge them afterwards, but this will take some time (:
hierosme
RB is a media player on Linux, SJ is a CD ripper on Linux
SothoTalKer
if RB or SJ have the tracklist you could just copy and paste it
hierosme
i haven't figured out how to captre it from their display
*capture
SothoTalKer
you could also try to find the tracklist online.
hierosme
But about Picard: yes i would gladly make separate releases and merge'em later, but how do i even make one release? Do i also have to type in everything?
Can't it find the titles like RB and SJ?
SothoTalKer
picard gets data only from musicbrainz, so if the release is not in the database, you would have to input it manually.
hierosme
Thanks for the idea of trying to find the track list online
SothoTalKer
you could use cuetools
hierosme
wuzzat?
oh, it's a Linux pkg
SothoTalKer
it does not provide a direct way to add stuff to musicbrainz, but it uses CTDB, which has way way way more discids
hierosme
Thanks for the tip
SothoTalKer
it has almost 4.5 million different discids. sadly the database is not directly searchable
hierosme
Does it have a GUI, or does it need a front-end?
I see that it "enhances" shntool
SothoTalKer
i use windows, so it has a fancy gui for me :D
hierosme
haha
Digging a bit it must have its own GUI, so i'll try it
SothoTalKer
you can also rip CDs with the accompanied cueripper
sadly it does not support adding stuff to musicbrainz directly
hierosme
sounds good
well perhaps i can handle a bit of juggling

does anyone know Les Luthiers around here? Most of their recordings (either in VHS, DVDs or CD) are just live recordings of their shows, which include plenty of talking (monologues and biologues) as well as songs. Should we use Album + Live + Spokenword ? or just Album + Live ? or Other instead of Album?
reosarevok
heh
I'd... not be sure
I mean, even the "songs" are most often jokes that are kinda song-ish :p
antlarr2
I've been adding quite a few missing "albums" that were not in musicbrainz, and I was just now wondering if Album is ok
reosarevok
I think Album is fine
But not sure about Spokenword :)
antlarr2
hehe, ok
reosarevok
Maybe? I guess it does kinda fit
antlarr2
I think there was a spokenword attribute for recordings , isn't it? so I'll try at least to add that to tracks which are pure talking
SothoTalKer joined the channel
btw, if anyone could add their opinion on this edit... https://musicbrainz.org/edit/56192642 ... I'm actually not sure about what am I supposed to do to include the right information about that "album/show"
