I was listening to satellite radio coming back from work and saw the song title on the display: N.W.A. - 8 Ball (Remix)
it's N.W.A
and 8 Ball (remix)

I still don't get why "enter edit" should not be on the right. "submit" buttons are right-justified on almost all web forms. why not on mb?
reosarevok
It was moved for consistency with every other form on MB, where Enter Edit is on the left just after the edit note form (both in tab order and physical placement)
The release editor was one of two exceptions - the other being an obscure menu for oauth apps
picard puts each file now in a separate folder because each artist is different :/
what i want is: to put artis of track in the back if it is different from album artist, but to only put album artist in the folder name
kepstin
inside the $if2 you have the %artist% and %albumartist% in the wrong order
switch those and that'll do it i think?
KassOtsimine
yea those wree switched before and same thing
but i'll try again (just need ot let picard finsih loading files :D)
kepstin
hmm, i forget when that's applied, you might need to load files into picard after changing it
antlarr has quit
hmm. file naming pattern... I guess that's done when it's saved. mgiht be ok?
KassOtsimine
it was liek this and thne i changed *after*
anyway the example shows same issue, noly now with a strange _ in front?
antlarr joined the channel
kepstin
"$if2(%artist%,%albumartist%)" means "if there's a track artist, use that, otherwise use the album artist", but there's always a track artist, so it always uses that.
KassOtsimine
i see
oh wait. shiti might have $unset albumartist
ahh
waht do i do if i want only to use track artist. but if there is an albu martist jjsut ot disregard using it altogether for the fodler name?
kepstin
then just use %artist%
KassOtsimine
but thne it will put e verything is seveal fodlers if each artist is differnt
kepstin
yes, because that's what you asked for?
KassOtsimine
my use case s : id it's "various artuist" i just want the folder to be named as album
kepstin
ah, if you specifically want to disregard various artists, that's different
just a moment :)
KassOtsimine
but i *do* want each file ot be %title% %trackartist%
but *only* for various artists
not jsut various artists. any release whr ethe *artist* of the track is messy. i never want track artists in the fodler name
kepstin
if you have an album where the album artist isn't various artists, but each track has a different artist, what do you want to do?
KassOtsimine
use the album artist i nthe folder name, put track artists in file names
kepstin
alright. your file naming pattern first line should be : $if(%compilation%,,%albumartist% - )%album%/
i think. not tested, i don't have picard handy
adityasrivast has quit
if that doesn't work, it might need to be $if($eq(%compilation%,0),%albumartist% - )%album%/
KassOtsimine
two ,'s- ,, in the first example?
kepstin
yes
looking at it closer, i'm pretty sure the second one is more likely to work
That specifically checks if the album artist id is that for "Various Artists". I use this (along with a specific check for "Unknown Artist" as well) in my naming script here.
kepstin
with current versions of picard, the %compilation% tag should be equivalent to a check for the various artists mbid.
but yeah, i think i have a couple mbid checks in my tagger script :)
