that specific release doesn't have a cover on the MB website
ZaphodBeeblebrox
you might have to enable "CAA" in the cover's option (or the .. ah i see)
you said "picard" so I assumed you wanted the cover arti nit picard
zentropy
I can drag and drop a 800x800 covert art from Chrome into mp3tag and it loads there
ZaphodBeeblebrox
anyway downloading arts I use "downthemall" on ff, ther shoudl be achrome version too
kepstin
dragging an image from another tab to the "drop files here" box on musicbrainz might work in some browsers? but i've always just downloaded the image then re-upload.
ZaphodBeeblebrox
it workes on windows to paste an url in the "upload" box iirc
but not mac
anyway why are we talking about picard or mp3 tag if it's the musicbrainz website to upload covers? :D
zentropy
I started in picard and saw that the album was matched but the cover was missing
so I checked the mb website and yes the cover was missing there
so I googled the UPC on the mb page and found the cover on discogs in the first google result
mendel_munkis
I'm trying to figure out what to name a single. every reference to the song I can find uses a specific name but the cover art has a different title on it.
zentropy
then I did a search on google images (context menu when clicking on image on discogs) and found a larger 800x800 version of cover on albumartexchange
then I tried copy image from Chrome and couldn't figure out how to paste into Picard
then I tried dragging image from Chrome and hovering and dropping into Picard album cover blank thumbnail and that didnt' work either
Lotheric
upload it to MusicBrainz Covert Art Archive... then Picard will be able to fetch it
zentropy
can I upload to there from the picard app?
I clicked refresh but I don't see the local cover art I added with mp3tagger
Lotheric
I'm not sure if Picard can submit art by himself to musicbrainz but you can go on the musicbrainz website and upload it
Lotheric doens't use Picard to tag
zentropy
why not?
Lotheric
because I've been using foobar2000 w/masstagger for years and I'm used to it
I do us Picard for file renaming though
~use
Lotheric is weird
heh
zentropy
but isn't the point of Picard to do a form of canonical tagging, rather than just making it up?
Toast joined the channel
Lotheric
what do you mean by canonical ?
it's a tagger
zentropy
agreed upon spellings and names for artists, releases, tracks, etc
Lotheric
that's all MusicBrainz (the database)
not Picard
zentropy
Picard uses MusicBrainz
Lotheric
I do too
zentropy
I thought Picard was the most tightly integrated MusicBrainz tagger
the green button on the MB site launches Picard
the context menu in Picard launches MB
Lotheric
I use Picard to rename my album folders/tracks then I use foobar2000 to tag my files from filenames
zentropy
so your saying I should use foobar2000?
Lotheric
no, that's just how I use Picard, you do you
Picard is a poweful tagger
outsidecontext
zentropy: You can drag and drop image URLs from the browser into the cover art box in Picard
but if it is from some specific search result it depends a bit what search engine, which link you drag and which browser you use. but there is support fro google and bing search results, so this should work.
