the pack is 2 albums over 3 LPs, and then two CDs are included in the pack which the albums are on too
so, I added each disc, LP and CD alike as individual media

SothoTalKer: IME that's because few people actually look for deletion-worthy items, if a deletion is proposed it often passes
SothoTalKer
nobody cares enough. :)
elomatreb[m]
Obviously at least one person cared enough to delete the items that started this
Side note: The fact that deletions also delete the edit history on wikidata makes it really hard to tell what was going on with the items before

Hi, with the closure of freedb, I need to micrate my use of cddb.pl to something more appropriate. Is there a client that will extract CDDB-format, or even just a new server I can point cddb.pl at?

radiomark: not that I know...
We used to have a gateway but got rid a while ago, and I haven't heard of anyone supporting the format nowadays
evelyn: thanks for the video. I noticed you are on apple, whereas I am on ubuntu, I could change the image for a single track but not for the album.
But then I decided to check the version, I had 1.4.2 coming from ubuntu, then I installed the version from snap and got 2.3.2
and for that it works like a charm, thanks for your help!!!
radiomark
reosarevok: thanks, a shame there's no gateway for my existing scripts
reosarevok: I ended up using gnudb.org, but I can't be sure this database will have the momentum to be kept up to date. Not that anyone releases many CDs these days :)
evelyn
eFfeM: cool! glad it works now

radiomark: you could eventually use the MusicBrainz API, but yeah, that does require rewriting stuff
So if some site works in the meantime >(
eh. :)
radiomark
I didn't know about MusicBrainz, so I will enjoy looking into it one day ... just not now unfortunately.
And all my CD ripping scripts work really well already
I'm curious: does VIAF ever remove their IDs from the DB?..
I'm running through Strauss Jr. works and VIAF DB. So far I twice stumbled upon a situation when 2 VIAF id were assigned for the same work [not a big deal - it will be just another field in MB, but I wonder if they are able to merge these entries at some point].
reosarevok
xplt: not sure - I recently found a case where they linked to actually different entities in other databases
I dunno if there is a point trying to report that or what
It seems a bit messy although I must say for a huge aggregator it tends to not suck more often than I would expect :p
Or not... In Wikipedia, it says that the name in VIAF was the original name of the composition...

reosarevok: I'll make 2 release groups, one instrumental (so leave as is) and the other being the original and I'll have 2 releases there, the sample and the original.

I'm thinking about writing a bot, which would "synchronize" relations between MB and Wikidata... 🤔🤔
lionirdeadman
Don't we have different licenses? Also, who overwrites who?

Errr, no, not at this scope :) I mean, it should just link a work to Wikidata ID (if it has one) and get VIAF ID (and some other properties) from Wikidata [and add them to MB] and vice versa
