is there a way of ignoring errors when publishing an release? musicbrainz tells me every track has to have a title and an artist … they all hav titles and all artists are green
darwin
there is some weird workaround that I discovered for that
unfortunately I can't remember what it is
I think it's like, un-greening the artist names and re-greening them
I've only encountered that bug like once in 5+ years of editing musicbrainz, but of course when I did it was on some gigantic release
basxto
I copied what the titleparser generated, deleted all and repasted it
I see what’s wrong

the time duration became part of the artist field for all tracks made by the album artist *mhm

reosarevok: I've been experimenting with compression and some ideas for super long tracks… and I think I've got almost enough ideas and information to make a full album that's up to my usual (low) standards of musicality
plus I'm thinking of going the classical route this time for the metadata, and putting emoji in the movement titles. because why not
e.g., Alarm Clock Suite, Fs ⏰: I. ∅🕖🕖🕖🕖🕖∅
(that would be a week-long track)
reosarevok
We improved emoji support recently
So that part shouldn't be a problem
dseomn
😀
reosarevok
I mean... I hope? :D

🇧 🇪 🇱 🇪 🇮 🇻 🇪 🇮 🇳 🇲 🇧 ' 🇸 🇪 🇲 🇴 🇯 🇮 🇸 🇺 🇵 🇵 🇴 🇷 🇹
er, pidgin seems to handle those particular emoji-like characters poorly
I was trying to say I believe in MB's emoji support
reosarevok
No
You were trying to say BELEIVE
(irccloud shows them fine)
Wonder if MB supports *those* :D
dseomn
that's good to know. truncated at the beginning (missing 🇮) and a typo. oh well
🇮 🇧🇪🇱🇮🇪🇻🇻🇪
ok, so I need to work flags into my music metadata somehow... hmm
reosarevok
You belgium liechtenstein confusedflag venezuela?
Just play vuvuzela versions of country anthems
dseomn
I did make a midi sound font of my vuvuzela already, so that would be easy enough
STYLE-1277: Audio CD should be labeled as CDDA, CD-DA or simply Audio CD
Lotheric
since you are on the topic of SACD
:p

I'm fine with "Audio CD"
aereaux joined the channel
reosarevok
I'm not, because it won't be selected when someone types cd
CatQuest
hm good point
also a pita
cheezmo2
No one would know what CDDA or CD-DA mean so no one would choose them even though appropriate for the vast majority of releases.
"CD Digital Audio"
CatQuest
yea
cheezmo2
Because the logo actually says "Compact Disc Digital Audio". Why not just shorten that to "CD Digital Audio" for the format?
CatQuest
like I had loujine add the country codes to the language list for aliases, and that helps so it says like "fa persian" "nb nynorsk" "es spanish" etc

skapazzo_Web
Hello everyone.
Is this a good place to ask about edits?
aereaux
skapazzo_Web: Yep, just ask, and someone should eventually be able to answer
skapazzo_Web
I removed some clearly wrong album art (https://musicbrainz.org/edit/73587003) and out of curiosity checked the edits of the original poster. I found that he had posted the same image as cover art multiple times on various releases, in between correct ones. Some of these had already been deleted, so I deleted the rest
Now I wanted to ask if I could/should more. That user has edits from 2017/2018 so I don't know if I should try and contact him. Is there a way to look for similar images used by others?
s/should more/should do more/
CatQuest
skapazzo_Web: well about beign from 2017 shouldn't be a problem (i'm from 2004 after all :D)
I'd say contact them first and formost
skapazzo_Web
I was more concerned with two years of no activity but I've disappeared for long stretches too. I've just sent them a nice email, we'll see.
By the way: this seems like a good moment to thank everybody involved with this whole project and all the editors. I've got immense respect for all your work and the community. Thank you.
