Would I just create a new release-group and add the songs again, with the same name? Should I somehow mark them as being different from the other release?
reosarevok
Hi Vacuity_ !
Yes, re-add, but do not reuse the recordings
And new release group
And ideally add works and link both performances of each song to the same work
Vacuity_
ah. "works". didn't know about that :)
reosarevok
I guess there's no info of when this version was recorded? :)
(if we had it we could indicate it too in the recording-work links)
Vacuity_
only when it was released
reosarevok
Yeah, then probs not :)
Still, the other things do apply
Vacuity_
ok, great. I'll try it when I come to it someday today. I also noticed the existing release group of "Wrong again, Albert" has no CD release yet. I own that CD too, so I'll add the CD release incl DiscId
reosarevok
Thanks! :)
If you get stuck with anything just ask here :)
Vacuity_
more questions :) The release name is "Same, same…but different" according to bandcamp (and as can be seen on the coverart). Q1) According to English styleguide, that should capitalized as "Same, Same...but Different", correct? Q2) What about the ... in the title. They use "…". Should I keep that or replace it with "..." ?
reosarevok
(since you said you've never used works before)
Hmm
Vacuity_
I added a few releases already, but never with existing recordings (or works)
reosarevok
Well the recordings should be different here so that should be like a usual new release in that sense :)
If they consistently use lowercase then I would too
Vacuity_
yes
worse. the song titles are all uppercase. everything inclusing "Is" and "It"
reosarevok
That is probably not that intentional, I'd correct those :)
… is probably more correct than three dots anyway, so you might as well keep it
Vacuity_
ok. then I'll capizalize according to styleguide, discarding the idea of "artist intent", but keep the …
(and I'll try to produce less typos than in the current conversation :) )
The releases should then be separate. But the release groups should be merged
And probably the recordings too
That said, the label should probably be the same, but if there's a 2005 re-release then they should still be separate releases
Disc 3 track 10 has a very different duration (over 1 minute) between the releases
Can you confirm your version is 2:30 rather than 3:30
?
SothoTalKer
reosarevok: there was something not MB related i wanted to ask you
reosarevok
What is it?
SothoTalKer
reosarevok: you proposed the ELNET ID like 2 years ago on WD. Do you still have contact to the people or can reach them? I am interested in the format they use, but I could not find any info about it.
