loujine: a little bit unrelated to MB: do you know how/when two BnF authority entries get merged? Is there a way to tell the BnF that two entries actually belong to the same person?
Every album that recording is on calls it “St. James Infirmary,” but the recording is listed as “Ole Miss” and as a recording of the work of the same name. Armstrong did record “Ole Miss”… this smells to me like bad data entry that was later corrected on each album, but the recording name stuck around. Any jazz nerds in the house?
Comparing a YouTube version of Armstrong’s “St. James” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzcpUdBw7gs (definitely the song I’m familiar with) and the recording referenced above, they are *very* different. Sloppy anthologists, I guess.
So then, the question is how best to model this in MBz… I hate to have such a grossly mislabeled track, but that is what the liner notes give it as. )-:
