Hi everyone! I have been really interested in working for the android app of musicbrainz
One quick question is that could we stream music to the app as well?

in general musicbrainz does not contain any music
akshaaatt
Yeah I get that. It basically provides us with listing and description right
What if we could do something like the ITunes API?
reosarevok
I expect in most cases people would happily use Spotify or whatever to stream
I know I do
akshaaatt
I agree. But I have been trying to integrate music streaming into an app that I've been working on and wasn't able to find anyone who could provide me with a database for it.
I did try using the Spotify API but that requires us to be authenticated through spotify and just overlays their player onto your app
So wasn't a success for me. Same goes for the Apple Music Kit.
But the iTunes API works great but the problem is that they only provide us with previews.
I basically thought that working on a database as a service could be a good market

I've just submitted my first release to Musicbrainz (https://musicbrainz.org/release/87e75cef-773b-4...) and I'm still a bit confused about a few things. I changed the artist on tracks 4, 5 and 6, but the "tracklist" page doesn't seem to reflect the change. Do I have to wait for it to be displayed?
darwin
hi :)
yes, if you're changing an existing release and it's over a certain amount of time after you added it, you have to wait for it to be applied (or approved)
darwin: Thanks! That's probably a good thing anyway in my case since, although I think I've improved the release data, I'm not sure I'm doing things properly :)

unless you're deleting stuff, which you should almost never do, there's not a huge amount of risk if you *do* do something wrong, though you are good to be concerned to do things properly :)
Three of the tracks were originally composed for a different instrument and arranged for another on this specific release (masterful arrangement, BTW, do listen to it if you like Mozart:). Should I add this piece of information in "Additional information"?
edgarvincent: there might already be some work for mozart arrangements. (if it's a oft used arrangement) but yes as yvanzo said you can create arrangement works, it's easiest to do that in the "relationship editor"
reosarevok is the guy uou want for classical too
edgarvincent
CatQuest: It's actually a new arrangement. I've asked a music scholar friend of mine and to his knowledge it has never been played like that before.

ooohhhh
interestig!

we deff would want that arrangement in mb then :D
reosarevok
Well, it depends on whether it's a one-off or a published arranged score :)
