loujine: when you have some time: I read something about a script to copy recording rels, how much does it copy? Is it the kind of thing where I could use it to copy all these rels + works to the 5.1 disc in https://beta.musicbrainz.org/release/678f40d6-3... ?

reosarevok: the "clone rels" script? I'll have to check but the idea was more 1 input recording (mbid or checked recording on the current release) -> N output recordings with the same data
it could probably be changed easily to a N inputs -> N outputs
How do you choose the right release label? I am adding a release which is release by Universal Music Denmark https://musicbrainz.org/label/8b26b067-9a72-465... but that label says “not for release label use!” in the disambiguation. So do I ignore that or add the release to the parent label?
Picard wants to change the Artist, Arist Sort Order, Album Artist, and Album Artist Sort Order for the tracks on that album to all be Herbie Hancock. I get doing that for the Album Artist fields, but not the first two. Is my thinking wrong?
It would seem to me that the recording artist should be what is used for Artist and Arist Sort Order
(if the recording artist is different from the album artist)
FWIW I am running Picard 2.5.6, which it thinks is the most stable release
Oh, but looks like those changes weren't pushed to the related tracks
If you go to the release you linked and click Edit, you can go to the Recordings tab. At the very bottom, you can click "Copy all track artist credits to associated recordings." and then next
Review the changes and see if that's what you're looking for, bench12345

Maybe? Is that just copying the artist credit for the album to every recording on the album?
evelyn
picard uses artist credits, that's why you're seeing herbie hancock for the first two

evelyn: does look like someone forgot to push the credits though, no?
evelyn
maybe? I don't know anything about the release

Not even sure the Artist should be Herbie Hancock. It could be all those people listed on the cover. Just says he produced it but was one of many artists.
It is like a one time "band" without a name. Group of people that got together as a jazz ensemble to record a soundtrack.

griff__: certain "labels" are actually distributors and not music labels

it's difficult to understand without some knowledge of how the music industry works and the associated terminology (which I don't have)

but if a "label" on MB says that it shouldn't be used as a label then it's for a good reason!
