kepstin-laptop__ has a lot of jpop stuff with only composer/lyricist/arranger/vocalist

Nyanko-sensei: Man. I hate when they just credit the group. :|
I also really dislike when say "Barfoo played 10 different instruments throughout the album" without specifying which instruments they played on which tracks.
Ugh.
nikki
I hate it when I can't find the credits online and I have to dig out my magnifying glass to read all the tiny kanji
Nyanko-sensei
kepstin-laptop__: that's the usual thing, then there's a page like this http://puu.sh/6kIv8.jpg
nikki
then draw them one by one...
Freso
nikki: I rarely have that problem. :p
Nyanko-sensei
I do the same unless there's a helpful wiki which I can use to copy the names
nikki
on account of you not editing stuff with kanji? :P
Freso
Precisement. :)
Nyanko-sensei
my indies bands credits are boring most of the time
Freso
I do however dislike when the library's put their chip sticker blatantly across liner notes.
I mean, why do you think I'm taking the CDs out? To *listen* to them?? Jeez.
Nyanko-sensei
and I should make a habit of at least taking pictures of the booklets of the CDs I get
Nyanko-sensei might have to dig through his mountain of CDs soon
I should add a completely credited album one of these days, just to see the monstrosity of inline credits on a j-pop album
kepstin-laptop__
I've been working on a few; my best one so far is only about halfway done :/
Krystof: talk to ruaok but you should be able to get a free live data feed
Dunno what else you need but you can ask him :)
Krystof
tasty tasty user data :-)
but maybe we get that anyway
kepstin-laptop__
Nyanko-sensei: with any luck that's just a newer version of the GT-S630

Krystof: a fair amount of user data is private, but if you ask you can certainly get at least stats
Nyanko-sensei
I think I'll get one. worst case scenario - I'll drag it to my parents' place next time I'm in europe
isn't MB userdata boring? only editors there
reosarevok
Not if you're an academic :)
Krystof
not if you're investigating the community structure of engaged users across music-related social networks
that might be a longer way of saying the same thing
reosarevok
hahaha
kepstin-laptop__
Nyanko-sensei: looks like they discontinued the model I have (which is the north american version of the GT-F730), and the GT-F740/S640 is the replacement :)
Nyanko-sensei
dunno what to study there. how much I'm overestimating my command of a language I set in my profile?
oh cool
\amazon prime/
this weekend I'll have some fun scanning my booklets

huh, the US name of the GT-S640 is the "Perfection V37"
makes perfect sense given that the GT-S630 was the "Perfection V33"

I'm pretty sure that the only difference between the GT-S630 and GT-S640 is that they added a "Scan-to-cloud" feature to the software.
CallerNo6 plays a game with his nephew called "I have no idea." The goal is to say "I have no idea" whenever somebody asks you something that you don't know about. At 8, he's already pretty bad at it, the little hipster.

Mineo spots some live recordings added by reosarevok with a place in their comment but no relationship <.<
Newly added?
Maybe I forgot
Mineo
yeah - I guess you didn't add them because there's no nice relationship editor for standalones :)
reosarevok
No, I always add it for standalones
I probably just forgot
Links?
Mineo
oh, wait, I'm stupid. the relationships are there, but I didn't see them because I was looking at the englisch mb.org, not the german beta :/
reosarevok
Ok
Mineo stops reading stuff for university because he clearly can't think straight anymore

CallerNo6 , after reading https://meta.discourse.org/t/shouldnt-you-be-able-to-tag-with-multiple-categories/256 , marvels at the tag-haters. Of course tags don't work well as categories. That's what's so awesome about tags.
CallerNo6
Also, a good forum alternative for MB would ideally /also/ replace the blog IMO.
reosarevok
Ugh, why?
That's pretty much the only place for official stuff we have
nikki
the blog isn't really any different from a forum. someone posts something, people post replies. how exactly it's set up is largely technical details :P
reosarevok
Technically no
But it's good that official communication is in one place, and random chatter in another
The less similar they look, the better :p
nikki
I guess we just have to disagree then :P
reosarevok
Also it's not that similar
The blog is pretty much designed so that the content is the important bit and the comments are secondary reactions, and is styled as such
While the forum is supposed to be more of an equal-footing thingy
Which is great for a forum, but not for, well, a blog :p
nikki
I didn't say all the posts should be presented in the same way
reosarevok
Well, I mean, if you have a different URL for it and a different design and layout, that doesn't look like a forum, then why not
Although you might as well use a blog then
reosarevok shrugs
After all that's the only bit we don't have to self-host at the moment
nikki
you're the one saying it has to have a different url, different design and a layout that doesn't look like a forum :P
reosarevok
Well that's what I understand with "not presented in the same way" :p
If it looks like a forum, it's pretty much the same way :p
CallerNo6
I dunno. Maybe I'm missing something, but to me the multipe-channels-of-communication are a drag.
reosarevok
CallerNo6: it's just that I don't see the forum as a channel of outwards communication from MB, but a place for users to do their user-y thingies
nikki
the blog is where you go to post stuff that users are unlikely to see, yes :P
but I'm not sure that was the intention
CallerNo6
A lot of forums do that with a "news" section or something similar, don't htye?
hawke1
CallerNo6: yes, and it mostly sucks.
reosarevok
Maybe, but that's a news section *for the forum users*
