ok so i found the problem, the tags needed to be lowercase

but now i have a new problem

it ignores the setting for replaygain_track_peak

i.e. it removes it

is that a common tag, etc?

i guess. it's one of the four tags that get added when you use replaygain on a file, and replaygain is pretty common.

point is, i put it in the option list as a tag that mb should ignore when changing/removing tags, but it ignores it.

that sounds like it might be a bug

some are streamable, some aren't. some are "name your price", so effectively "can be downloaded for free".

Gentlecat: you can use the bandcamp import user script (my version is more or less fixed regarding free/paid downloads links, https://github.com/zas/musicbrainz-userscripts), and good luck when importing VA compilations ;)

VA compilations are still a mess to import (artist / title reversed and unsplitted to start with) and sometimes many new/unknown artists -> take hours ;)

but the script works pretty well for more "normal" releases; just take care about default values (Album/English/Latin) and check twice release date (cause it is sometimes wrong...)

jesus2099: is there any way for the Mass Merge userscript to "unselect" specific tracks that should not be merged? Or re-order the tracks? I have a release which has two tracks swapped with each other, and it would be great to use that script to merge, but it will try to merge all of them.

Can't you just merge, and then click "Cancel" on those two while it's doing it?

For now I just clicked each merge button for all the good tracks.
