        Nope
      • reosarevok wonders if that's already reported
      • reosarevok
        Are you both on Chrome?
      • snartal
        IE
      • reosarevok
Good, so it's not Chrome being silly
      • snartal
reosarevok: I was going to make a change to an artist (sortorder and gender), but wanted to check with you first, since you did the last artist edit. http://musicbrainz.org/edit/15312785
      • reosarevok looks
      • Check out the es wiki
      • reosarevok
        ...
      • Yeah, looks like I just made a mistake on picking gender :)
      • I'm not sure about sortname though
      • reosarevok makes a chec
      • *check even
      • Hmm, yeah, I'd leave sortname as it is
      • "Ana Bárbara" are both generally seen as first names in Spanish, plus it's not his real name anyway
      • Actually I'll change the gender since it was my own stupid mistake
      • snartal
Well, didn't know, heck could of been TG
      • reosarevok
        Done
      • If she was, it still counts as female anyway if that's what she identifies as nowadays - but it doesn't seem she is anyway :)
      • (it's a gender field, not a sex field :) )
      • snartal tries to think of an American equlivent to the sortname thing.
      • I guess it's less common to have two (used) first names in English
      • Also I'd also use a different name if my name was "Altagracia" - those are some cruel parents :p
      • (not only it means Highgrace, but it sounds ridiculous)
      • snartal
Well at least the parents passed on some good genetics!
      • reosarevok rolls his eyes at http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/08/10/why-not-saints-row-4-gets-1-million-special-edition/
      • culinko
reosarevok: well you got some religious pictures if you do an image search for that name

So, if the only documentation you can find on an artist is on the cd label, I'm assuming its ok to add that artist to the database?
      • reosarevok
Sure - an artist is an artist
      • If later it's found it's a dupe they can be merged
      • snartal
I don't know if you remember reosarevok, but about a year or so back, I was digging a bit into the idea of using MB to track karaoke cdgs. Where would be a good place to start a discussion on that?
      • reosarevok
For karaoke stuff I don't really know much - this could be a good place itself, but nikki and kepstin-work and others here would possibly be more adequate people to talk about it :)
      • (nikki is out for a couple days though)

hmm… if I want to relate one recording *part* of a DJ‐mix to a full DJ‐mix recording containing it, do I use “compilation of” or “DJ‐mix of” relationship?
      • it seems DJ‐mix relationship is for unmixed ↔ DJ‐mixed relationshipts
      • so “compilation of” seems more appropriate to me…
      • CatQuest
yes reosarevok! that was te word "compromise
      • thanks
      • but that's what both the forum users and the mailinglist users need to do
      • god i hate chromes "stay on this page/leave this page" dialogue box, is there ea way to turn it of? the only times i see it is usually with sites with popups that want to stop me form closing the popup/tab
      • aw man

so I am listning to 60's and 70's stuff on youtube, you know gift, faun, king crimson gun, etc, so this gets here xv I think it's some forgotten 70's band like the others (it is) but I realise they must be norwegian, because a) their names b) the accents and c) 10:40 (listen it!) .. must be norwegian srls. so I go wikipedia
      • ho yes, si norwegian. and but this is from 1997!
      • well its rereocordings of old 70's stuff
      • (trasnaalte the site with babelfish.de if you need it)
      • ahaha
      • i love youtube
      • the music in the sidebar is like, that's actually relevant
      • this is th first thing I've found that is so easy. I have found a good 10 albums so far I am wanting to buy
      • and youtube isn't even MENT for this music discovery stuff
      • but
      • reosarevok
        :)
      • CatQuest
the thing that I can lsitne to the entire album + the "similar videos" thing actuall *works* musically
      • it means that youtube is (ironincally) the best "music discovery" thiny tool I know of today
      • because streaming the music albums are so hassle free
      • thanks to youtube i wil be buying a whole lot of progrock and psycrock albums
      • hah
      • LordSputnik joined the channel
      • every other 2discover foo" music thing out there is all "listen to this song by this artist but then 'we're gonan give you another song by another artist
      • yo ucnat listen to what ou want and the enitre thing
      • here you can
      • seriosuly
      • they should do a youtube but withm usic, like "youvawe"
      • erh
      • "youvwve"

      • YOUWAVE
      • yes thank you accidental caps lock
      • link fail also
      • listen from 10:40 :P
      • aw yea, it seguesinto prog metal too
      • segues
      • HankCorto
hey CatQuest.. give this tool a try :) https://mux.fm/lucifer-was
      • CatQuest
        nah to much ajax
      • it's like spotify and such
      • to much ajax
      • javawhatever
      • looks like a program inside the browser
      • not my thing :)
      • HankCorto
        fair enough :)
      • CatQuest
but afaik your tool uses youtube doesn't it? (and MusicBrainz that's cool)
      • simukis_
CatQuest: Would web application wrapped in a webview pass?
      • CatQuest
so yea, it's generally just a front end
      • HankCorto
        yes
      • CatQuest
so the ames things i said about youtube and the *functionality* is basically the samething:)
      • simukis_: I don't.. understand?
      • HankCorto
uses lastfm to recommend similar artists
      • CatQuest
yea I'd go with youtube's version actually
      • simukis_
Well, it would appear to be a native application, but in the end under the covers it's the same web application with lots of javascript.
      • CatQuest
I don't know what it is about it, I can just clikc another link in the sidebar and when i'm done with this one i go to that tab(s) and chek them out in order, and maybe click the "similar" links on those pages
      • like whoo treading? :P
      • simukis_: i still don't understand. like a program that is actually a browser that loads the webpage (with the webappletprogrmathingy) ?
      • why not just make a program?
      • and keep it outa my webpages
      • mind I don't dilike applets on pages
      • dislike
      • they ca nbe very useful or fun
      • but the entire site is like .uuuhhhhh
      • HankCorto
it's not an applet.. it's W3C standard compliant javascript
      • simukis_
CatQuest: exactly. A big majority of phone applications are done exactly like that.
      • CatQuest
simukis_: that explaisn why they need to have online ot work :p
      • and why they drain he money. sheesh
      • ok I'm getting this albm.. it's seriously awesome
      • HankCorto
do you browse the web with javascript turned off?
      • CatQuest
no but I do with flash block so I can turn on which flash i want
      • simukis_
CatQuest: You can still store a web application in your computer and load it without the internet access.
      • CatQuest
and a lot of of javascript is irritating, I really miss an ability to turn it on[off] at a press of a button like opera had
      • CatQuest: but eh, that's.. the if it's offlien it's not a webaplication
      • erh erh
      • simukis_: not myself
      • HankCorto
flash is youtube's.. are you on youtube's HTML5 trial? don't need flash
      • CatQuest
no i use the flash on youtube. so I can open up loads of tabs and they don't start utoplaying but instead i ca nselect which to play whenever i want
      • (use chrome)
      • thought chrome is really sucky
      • but alas so now does opera
      • CatQuest sad
      • man this album is awesome
      • seriously listen to it
      • HankCorto
thanks CatQuest, i actually have the same opinion about death metal as you have about web applications :)
      • CatQuest
erh... it's not death metal :P
      • it's really heavy progrock
      • and I don't mind "webaplications"
      • it's webists that behave like a program
      • so i'd probably not mind your site at all
      • HankCorto
it's just a design decision, have it look like itunes/winamp.. just so people feel more comfortable about what the aim of the site is: listen to albums on youtube
      • CatQuest
your site seems a lot like http://tracqlist.com thoguh
      • HankCorto
        oh yes it does
      • CatQuest
this is also "tracks blup from youibe"
      • :)
      • so I guess I am a bit overloaded
      • HankCorto
well but mine is more legit
      • you can't ofuscate the video, when streaming from youtube
      • it's agains their ToS
      • CatQuest
(I'll be honest haven't really checked out your sit jst glanced. since I am using this youtube thing now and i just want to play this thing and there are several thingies alots)
