wish it was longer

reosarevok: Certainly seems like a small ensemble.

function1: surely 24 h is enough time to find somewhere to use the artist on, or a URL to link it to?

(I mean, I assume you found the artist somewhere :) )

yeah i have to add 50+ artists for this box set
maybe i want add the release later
kepstin-work
you can add artists in the release editor as you add the disks.
murk joined the channel
Freso
kepstin-work: But that doesn't allow you to set artist type, start/end dates, country or gender.
kepstin-work
well, you can do that later.
Freso
Sure, but if you do it when you add them, you don't forget or otherwise miss any. :)
kepstin-work
true :)
kepstin-work usually adds artists before using them.
function1
i was advised to enter artists first. also, what Freso said. once i had to re-enter everything 3 times because of server errors. long release, ended up adding mediums as separate edits

kepstin-work
i.e. I have the release editor open in one tab, and add artists in another tab, then paste the mbids into the release editor :)
reosarevok
Yep, that's how I do it too
kepstin-work
that mbid pasting feature graduating from being a userscript to being in the server proper was nice :)
hawke_1
reosarevok: That brings us back to the question of: when it’s an ensemble taken from some larger group, is that a new artist or is it still the larger group (I mean, we probably wouldn’t make a separate artist if the second violinist was off sick that day for some recording, even if we knew). The other place I saw this is stuff like “The ladies of the ambrosian chorus”
reosarevok
Well, it depends I guess
Most cases I've seen that, it is a proper subgroup they use more than once
But yeah, I wouldn't create a new artist for stuff like "string section" or "women of the choir"
kepstin-work
we need a new artist-artist ar for 'is a sub/super-group of" then :)
kepstin-work could see other cases where this would be useful as well
nikki
h!p :P
akb48...
kepstin-work
yes, those other cases :)
reosarevok
But those are actual *groups*
kepstin-work
AKB48 Team A is a subgroup of AKB48
reosarevok
(same as, for example, "Die 12 Cellisten der Berliner Philharmoniker")
kepstin-work
they're up to, what, 4 teams plus the training members in AKB48 now?
reosarevok
(which are an established entity that performs as itself, as opposed to "the women sections of our choir since this is a work for women choir")
Replacing small with big, large, orig, original, thumb, and simply removing it doesn't give a large image. Neither Google Images nor TinEye yield anything either.

nikki
what release is it?
Freso
nikki: "Funk, Vol. 3" or "Funk / Hip Hop, Vol. 3" - it isn't entered yet.
Also, man, Dutch and German sometimes look alike. I could've sworn the text on the medium was German, but actually reading it, "voorbehouden" doesn't look very German. :p
It should couple up their "Linked Data" with MB data though. :p
reosarevok
Freso: worldcat can be linked from MB btw, it's in the otherdbs thing
LordSputnik
nikki: I did, but then I saw the pictures to be processed :P
Freso
reosarevok: Nice. I'll do that. \o/

Hm. I just added a new Work for the Aerosmith+Run-DMC version of Walk This Way, but that one really isn't much changed from the Aerosmith version and certainly not enough to warrant a new version by normal standards.

However, it seems like all subsequent covers are of the Aerosmith+Run-DMC version rather than the Aerosmith-only version, and we don't really have a way to indicate that apart from through Work relationships, do we?
hawke_1
Anybody here know Swedish?
Freso: Why would they be separate works?
nikki
how much swedish?
Freso
hawke_1: To indicate cover of cover relationships.
hawke_1: Aerosmith releases "Walk This Way" in 197x, then they do a collaboration with Run-D.M.C.
So far so good.
hawke_1
Freso: Yep.
Freso
However.
Following this, there are at least two covers of the Run-DMC+Aerosmith version; Sum 41+some rappers and Sugababes+Girls something.
And thus, those two would be "cover of cover".
nikki
hawke_1: anything in particular? it doesn't look all that complicated
I imagine Freso can understand it :P
Freso
Oh, yeah, I'm down with Swedish. Sorry hawke_1, didn't see you asking. I was deep into my own little thinking zone box.
hawke_1: What do you need translated?
hawke_1: "Arrangemang" = arrangement, "instrumentering" = instrumentation, "damkör" is some kind of choir, "flöjt" is flute (most likely a transverse one), "oboe" is oboe, "soloklarinett" is a solo clarinet, "klarinet" is "clarinet", ...
Want me to continue? :p
nikki
is slagverk drums?
Freso
Percussion.
Trommer or trummer or something would be drums.
nikki
ah
Freso
"Slagverk" is literally "things for hitting"
nikki
yeah
I assumed it was probably related to schlagzeug
Freso
"Inspelad" = recorded, in Hemsjö Church and Artisten in Göteborg.
mixad - mixed, mastrad - mastered
Omslag - cover
nikki
is damkör a female choir?
Freso
Ah, yes, probably. :)
"Damekor"
("Dam" in Danish is a pond, so I don't always catch that at first.)
nikki
ah, heh
