Each of these discourses should be a separate work, and I would use their title separately.

Where I'm caught-up is ordering, as it's much like a track list in a release in MB.

I found a JIRA ticket for an RFE to allow ordering, but it's a bit more than that.

It's the arrangement in books.

If I don't encode what book each of the work is in, that's essentially lost information.

Yeah, your technique works when creating the edition... usually.

BB has maybe a bug where adding a work, especially to an existing release, does not add it to the bottom.

The "Books" were probably arbitrary by whomever compiled the anthology originally.

So, it's pertinent to the edition, but not to the works, I think.

same as different antologies with many short stories. or things like "the collected works of x" type dealies

I don't think there's any reason to break Discourses into separate editions for each "Book", it's like Part I, II, etc. in an opera I would say.

It's probably by some ancient Roman who compiled Epictetus's discourses.

Broadly grouping them by what they thought was subject matter.

So, I can ignore books entirely when creating the works.

And I can "luck out" when I order them in an edition.
