I am looking into issue [BB-283](https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/BB-… and I think this would be really useful for BookBrainz. I am thinking to add begin date and end date columns directly to the relationship table. Also I plan to add a boolean column to the relationship_type table to control the UI, allowing it to dynamically show either a Single Date field (for example, Author wrote Work in 1997 - 09 - 23) or both Begin

Hi monkey , I’ve assigned [BB-95] (<https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/BB-95>) and have been exploring a possible data model solution.

My approach is to introduce a new` Universe` entity type and link `Work` → `Universe` via a relationship (e.g., “set in”). This would allow modeling shared fictional universes like the Cosmere without overloading Series.

If this direction sounds reasonable, I can open a PR with the schema changes. Happy to adjust based on feedback.

Please do check open PRs in case there is already one open (thinking about start and end dates for example Atharv )

Hi monkey, I wanted to mention that I had already started working on BB-95 before formally assigning it — that was my mistake. since then, I’ve double-checked the scope, ensured there are no overlapping PRs, and kept the changes strictly limited to the schema modeling needed for BB-95 (introducing a Universe entity and linking Work → Universe).would it be okay if I go ahead and raise a PR for this?

        * @_discord_1324707564746707058:chatbrainz.org - I don't think there's any problem with opening PRs. They are easy to close/deny 😅 I think monkey just doesn't want you to be wasting your time, if you can help it! So if you think a PR is ready, I think you can go for it
