Maybe 5 years ago when we first started examining how to do recommendations, we put up a blog post about and there were so many people who claimed: recommendations suck. No one is ever going to want them.

And here we are, if we miss making recs, we hear about it from our users, proving the blog commenter very wrong.

turns out, most recommendations do suck -- they are trying to sell you something or enrich someone -- not put the good music in front of you. but you dont have such motivations, the recs are quite a bit easier to accomplish.
