we are using zstd compression for LB dumps at some places and i think the same makes sense for MB too. LB docs might be outdated though yes.
mib 🥐: I'd be open to switching the algorithm and am curious to see your plots/tables/etc. if you want to open a ticket. :) MB does currently use .xz for the JSON dumps btw, but ratio was a bigger concern there (the release dump is 350 GB uncompressed)

Hi all, [monkey](https://matrix.to/#/@monkey:chatbrainz.org) helped a lot on the LB-1973 PR so it looks much better now. My pr for LB-1878 also got merged. I got sick around Wednesday and havent felt better since. Its a case of HFMD, a highly contagious viral disease with symptoms similar to chickenpox.

I investigated the high number of 503s on MB web service issue and fixed it: we had a lower rate limit since the SOLR cluster crash that couldn't be raised because MB ws backends were saturating, I optimized the number of workers (with bitmap's help), and the load share (weights), once done I could finally raise the limit again.
