i worked on htmlifying the dataset hoster results, took some time to figure out but was a single line change in the end so that was nice :D

I also picked up the write a mini review feature PR, applied feedback on PR and extended it to show reviews on timeline.

btw its up on beta.listenbrainz.org currently if anyone wants to try out.

i also worked on adding more stat ranges for LB - this_week, this_month, this_year. the stats are available through api for now, work on the UI in progress.

also fixed some misc LB bugs. that's it for me.

last week was finishing some mapping improvements that led to some much improved match rates that should be clearly visible to everyone.

and then I started working on the last two playlists and I finished that task today.

The latest one is the top-missed tracks -- tracks that similar users to you listened to, but you didn't. seems interesting so far.

then the usual background stuff and some gateways ponderings.

A lot of time spent on playing whack-a-mole last week (more on this in a minute) and also try and keep up with other flags/reports. Also dealt with my birthday, so wasn’t around as much, but I tried to be around and about a bit at least.

Also made PRs against Kodi’s addon repository to include service.listenbrainz, so hopefully you’ll soon be able to submit listens to LB from Kodi without having to manually get the addon and installing it: https://github.com/xbmc/repo-scripts/pull/2160 + https://github.com/xbmc/repo-scripts/pull/2161

So, for the last... not sure, tbh - Freso, how long?

Anyway, at least a month, we've been dealing with a childish user who keeps vandalizing the database, mostly to try to make Freso and lately I feel bad, I guess, with homophobic attempts at fun

There's also been plenty of issues of vandalism on Jira, the forums, IRC at some point, etc

Yeah, at least a month with these attacks, but they’ve been a nuisance for quite a bit longer.

Yeah. The whole thing started as users theless and insolite, who some of you might have seen (and reported) before, since they made decent edits but were completely unable to behave like normal human beings towards the rest of the community

Once those got banned, they started getting agitated and vandalizing and generally behaving like kids

(funnily enough, they seem to still think the problem was somehow with their edits, not their behaviour)

(theless _is_ insolite, in case the above formulation lead to confusion. They’re not multiple people, just a single one.)

Anyway, we've been playing whack-a-mole, which while a nice source of paid hours for us (thanks for paying for my latest boardgame, insolite) is quite a waste of time for MeB and the MusicBrainz project

So, if you see any sort of vandalism, and the editor hasn't yet been deleted, please do let us know :)

And if you see edits removing it, please do vote for them

Oh, and they apparently have recently started vandalizing Wikidata too, for some reason, so if you see something there, you can let me know and I can get someone to deal with that

(Which might also mean they’ll try and spread to other adjacent projects. So keep an eye out.)

A lot of the vandalism is in Russian, but if you see Рео (Reo) or Фресо (Freso) that's a good sign the whole thing is probably vandalism, so do report in case maybe

Worst case scenario, we figure out it was not and do nothing :)

we have problems with this server, as the load (mainly due I/O) is quite high during some cron jobs

it leads to a non responsive server, ie. I tested log in to ftp taking > 10 seconds when it happens

so, please, take care about what's running there, this server was meant for file storage mainly, it has huge but slow HDDs, and software RAID

we are working on a potential solution for mb dumps

yvanzo: zas: there was talk of using ionice -- have we tried that/

also, this is chunking 5 users at a time because i messed up a back of the hand calculation earlier (somehow i arrived at 100 users stats json size to be 300 MB 🤦) so i thought to start small. will shift to 100 when this run completes.
