and like my earlier call for action on a ticket it was chaban that spurred this as well; it's been in a comment by them that ads are a real issue here.

Myself personally I can't even get a result to show (because i have google-requests usually blocked because I dislike tracking etc.)

Can we get a fortgang in this ticket?

do we really have to wait for a decision about new documentation framework (if at all?) is made?

to use our own search server here?

Personally I think that the wiki - transclusion-documentation routine we have works fine, the real issue is the lack of a good search.

Freso: should we wait a couple weeks with this too since so many are away maybe?

(I don’t really have any knowledge of the internals of this, so don’t really have any comments either.)

yvanzo thank you for the suggestion. Checked out the older version from git, built, and now recreating database. In the meantime I noticed this line in DBDefs.pm: "sub REPLICATION_TYPE { $ENV{MUSICBRAINZ_STANDALONE_SERVER} == 0" did that need to be changed to "== RT_MIRROR" or is that correct already?

In my experience redesigns often require someone to say "this is good enough" and just force it through, if you want to make everyone happy you will get bogged down

Yeah I think that’s the benefit of me coming on as ‘designer’ in a (slightly) more official capacity. It wont be design by committee, but all feedback is still important!
