I dont have much else on the gsoc front, but TBH my head is too crammed with business nonsense for me to focus on that right now.
lucifer
sure
mayhem
I think what we have is good for now, but I'll think on it more keenly in the coming days and come back to it.
lucifer
well the best are not very transport friendly but we can still find some good ones.
makes sense.
mayhem
agreed. we've managed to bring back a pile of stuff and all was fine.

i am currently trying to make some open source contribution by fixing an issue in a picard plugin which fails when the sorted artist name has no surname , such as Josquin instead of Josquin des Prez. i want some music samples to test my changes but any Josquin des Prez music that i get from youtube , picard says it has no metadata for it . could
you suggest me some source where i could find some data/music to test the changes i would make in the plugin ?
mayhem
lucifer: it seems that there is more interest now in the importing streaming history from spotify. maybe move finishing that project higher?
Have pre computed the followers list so no lag is observed..

bitmap, zas, mayhem, yvanzo, monkey, lucifer, akshaaatt, atj, aerozol, ansh, ApeKattQuest, kellnerd, Pratha-Fish, jasje: Just a friendly reminder that our meeting break is over and there will be a meeting in 1h30m
kellnerd
Thanks for the reminder! I even have something to report :)

lucifer: hey, I noticed there's a mapping.mb_metadata_cache table in the musicbrainz_json_dump DB on aretha. do you know if this DB being actively used by another process?
mayhem
that sounds like it shouldn't be there.
bitmap
ok, actually there is a whole mapping.* schema there. this DB is being moved to hendrix, on a different port, so I didn't want to break anything
lucifer
bitmap: that is old, can be deleted.
bitmap
cool, thanks for confirming

ok, after categorizing all the summit expenses, we spent $17,783.35 on the two summits: BCN and Delhi.
TOPIC: MetaBrainz Community and Development channel | MusicBrainz non-development: #musicbrainz | BookBrainz: #bookbrainz | Channel is logged; see https://musicbrainz.org/doc/IRC for details | Next meeting January 8th. Agenda: Reviews, Discord bridge (aerozol, lucifer), IRC alternatives (mayhem, lucifer), Summit 2024 (ruaok)
and I would guess that a summit in india would cost $4000-$5000 more, using a very rough guess to arrive at this.
I think I can raise that. We've got $1000 already pledged.
so, if we do a summit in Delhi who would NOT go? lets chat at the meeiting.
might even be $3000-$4000 more. The delhi summit cost $1000 this year and we won't be doing that again, obvs.
atj
reosarevok: can you take me off the review agenda please, I don't have anything to report
yvanzo: Oh, I thought we'd release later, but I guess we might indeed have enough stuff?
yvanzo: I had merged https://github.com/metabrainz/musicbrainz-serve... on master though because I expected to release more betas (including the AC stuff by bitmap) so if you're releasing prod maybe cherry-pick that onto beta? :)
yvanzo
There was enough time for testing the few changes in beta.
Too late for the Selenium tests and those are not really needed in beta/production anyway.
reosarevok
Ok, I guess that's true, as long as nobody is confused about prod failing a test
yvanzo
Selenium tests are running on master and PR branches, not on beta/production.
*are +automatically
reosarevok
Sure, I meant more if someone wanted to use the prod code and ran the tests
Anyway, clearly minor :)
(we're supposed to run Selenium tests when merging beta into production, as per RELEASING, but that's us and we know to ignore that failure this time)
yvanzo
It was a good point to check that it was minor though :)
Welcome one and all to the new season of the MetaBrainz Monday Meeting!
I know you've missed it, but it's ok, those empty and sad free times are gone and it's time to work
MonkeyPython

I have one mailed in review, from Pratha-Fish :
'''
Last week I started diving back into the area bot project, identified some issues to fix, and will be implementing some of these changes over this week as time permits :))
Also enjoying YIM, and missing the daily interactions and working with you guys 🫠🫂

Anyway
MonkeyPython glad he's not on that list
monkey
reosarevok: That's Satan, isn't it?
reosarevok

Other than that I put a beta out with a few improvements and got some rest in between, and then tried to get the house warm during a huge cold spell. Fin!

Happy new year to the followers of the Gregorian calendar.
Since the last meeting three weeks ago, I released a new version of MusicBrainz Server.
mayhem is a strict julian calendar aherent
Also reviewed some pull requests, and addressed a couple of issues in MB Server and Docker.
MonkeyPython tries to follow Lupintic
Aerozol and I officially launched the new translation platform, with coordination through the wiki and the forum.
reosarevok
Calendar nerds, let yvanzo speak :)
yvanzo
From this blog post to now (in the new year), 76 new users joined the translation platform, 21 of them contributed already.

Also I enabled reviews for testing with MusicBrainz Italian translation on salo.rock’s request.
Last about it, I addressed and forwarded various issues reported by users.
As for tickets, I upgraded our Jira Server and its PostgreSQL database to their latest versions.
