Bob Swift: I actually agree. We have a very flexible structure, but it also is complicated and adds quite some maintenance overhead. And as you said, changes are usually small. And other changes are general documentation improvements where everyone would benefit from. I'd be in favor of simplifying it.

Also we do usually mention the version where a feature was introduced. So even if you are using an older version of the program the documentation is helpful.
