reosarevok: apologies, I didn't realise that was how it worked. Is there no SSO between MB and the wiki?

basically yes, ECAU will add a link to atisket cover art which, when clicked, will automatically load the cover art into the upload form (but you still have to manually submit). Saves a couple of clicks

hi there, just wanted to ask about making track names in picard for vinyls become A1, A2 ect. currently filenames have 01 - artist - track name no matter what. any fix or ideas please?

I have no idea whether Picard does, just saying that it could...

I have it configured such that, if the vinyl trackname is defined, it tags with both index and the non-numeric index.

yeah just like that but for vinyls only or whatever musicbrainz says

Goldmaster, is this for the metadata tags, or file naming (or both)?
2022-01-26 02625, 2022
outsidecontext
Goldmaster: %tracknumber% is numeric only, intentionally. But there is also the %_musicbrainz_tracknumber% variable with the track no. written as on the MB release, e.g. vinyl numbering

Not sure we have this documented, rdswift?

when merging stuff, is it possible to do anything with the final product, like change track names or add references? [my current case is this: https://musicbrainz.org/edit/86685372 ] Or ... do I have to wait until the merge goes through and clean it up then?

2022-01-26 02638, 2022
rdswift
Goldmaster, that's odd because it works properly here. Are you matching your files up to a release retrieved from MusicBrainz or just using the metadata in the files (which won't make the %_musicbrainz_tracknumber% available).
2022-01-26 02650, 2022
rdswift
Another thing to check is that you don't have it included in a `$num()` function, which would interpret the 'A1' etc as non numbers and thus return zero padded to the specified length.

If you want the 'A1' padded to 'A01' then you would need to do something like $left(%_musicbrainz_tracknumber%,1)$num($substr(%_musicbrainz_tracknumber%,1,),2) instead.

Then again, that will break for non vinyl numbering. You'd have to first test with `$firstalphachar(%_musicbrainz_tracknumber%)` to see if it returns "#" in which case it is not in vinyl numbering format.

in beets, what I do is : track_and_or_track_alt: u'%02i (%s)' % (track,track_alt) if ('track_alt' in locals() and track_alt != str(track)) else u'%02i' % (track)
