reading online it sounds like the SFX were added for the US release? so might not be the right recordings on the first vinyl? (FUN :P)

Bandcamp can set who the artist is on VA releases?

Not sure if it auto-detects stuff from tags but you definitely get better uploading functions if you're a paying account (label?)

Just had a look and artists can add artist credits track-by-track for releases as well (on Bandcamp)

I think Bandcamp is pretty good actually, provides clean tags and insists on decent size album artwork if I remember correctly. But users can always throw their lil spanner in the works I guess

I wonder if not using existing tags/extracting the song name from the file title was a decision to make people enter it with more care

But I'm being very generous with that :D

I'm not sure but with the subpop compilation it might be that when you dl them the artist tags are correct? And it just prepends the artist to track name on the display
