just joined and it looks like nothing has happened since august last year... though I logged in with my IRC account and I did propagate there, so good to know things still work.

quick question; making a new artist entry and I've added a fanbox link to the external links section - what type does it come under? patronage pages?
applecuckoo[m]1
phoenix_05[m]: I guess so? that would make the most sense to me, though I don't edit MusicBrainz that much

it also makes sense to me, which is why I suggested that, but I wanted some confirmation

phoenix_05 (@_discord_502736866169061386:chatbrainz.org) without being familiar with that site specifically, it looks like a Patreon-style thing, so it would fit that URL definition pretty exactly
phoenix_05[m]
cool
I have a skeb link of the artist as well; but I don't see a type related to commissioning
elomatreb[m]
Is that fanbox site common and does it offer other services besides that Patreon-style funding?
We may want to add it to our auto-recognized URL list so that it automatically selects the relationship type
skeb is like a marketplace thing?
phoenix_05[m]
I just know it's an art commissioning site; don't much apart from that
it sounds like it's mostly for digital drawing? That might be a little out of scope for MB
phoenix_05[m]
i mean, you have to add artists for design/illustration roles..
and MB already has pixiv on auto-recog
elomatreb[m]
true
I guess the best we have right now is the Patronage relationship, the way its definition is worded doesn't necessarily require recurring payment I guess
might be worth a ticket though

@applecuckoo: Is there something specific you're missing from that Work databases page?

phoenix_05[m]
also, does this go under editor or vocals arranger? (although this is a vocaloid song)
elomatreb[m]
unless something specifically credits *arrangement* I think I would go with the more generic "vocal editor"

there isn't a `vocal editor` type though?
elomatreb[m]
it's an attribute on the plain editor relationship

elomatreb (@_discord_681477816029675521:chatbrainz.org) the part that lets you specify lead vocals and stuff?
vardhan_ joined the channel
elomatreb[m]
yeah
for popular music "lead vocals" is usually the right choice
phoenix_05[m]
this recording has three singers; do I just specify lead vocals, then?

elomatreb[m]
probably yes

this label says it isn't for use and gives catalog number hints to figure out which branch you use instead - but do digital media releases even have catalog numbers?
elomatreb[m]
yes, but streaming platforms generally don't expose them
but e.g. on platforms like Bandcamp they are listed somewhat frequently, and some labels have websites with a catalog where they show the numbers
phoenix_05[m]
I guess that's why the release I'm about to edit has this general label applied instead
hmm, also, this release has the dates sorta(?) off
spotify lists the song's date as `2004-11-15` but qobuz has it at `2004-11-12` (and both are linked on the release, weirdly enough)
I would've thought the earlier date would be prioritized
elomatreb[m]
considering both of those platforms didn't exist in 2004 those dates are slightly suspicious anyway
why does the release include both of these while having an ISRC of `JPR502301479`?
on a related note, where do I search/confirm an ISRC for a release?
elomatreb[m]
the most common source are online importer tools like https://harmony.pulsewidth.org.uk/, but it's also possible for CDs to contain ISRCs encoded into the disc
regarding that specific ISRC, it's possible for a single Musicbrainz recording to have more than one ISRC, and for each ISRC to be linked to multiple MB recordings. Sometimes they are just double-assigned by the issuer
phoenix_05[m]
yes; I've seen this, but I'm unsure as to what the source for that ISRC is
oh right, it should be in the recording editing history, not the release
they're all from Yuno's Tranquilizer album, which has a different ISRC as compared to the single
i noticed this on Picard; even after I add the proper ISRC, I'm guessing both will be listed on the track's metadata?
vardhan_ has quit
elomatreb[m]
not sure if Picard will add both ISRCs, but the musicbrainz website will list it
phoenix_05[m]
wait, the recording should have both ISRCs, shouldn't the releases have their specific ISRCs?
* wait, if the recording
elomatreb[m]
which release an ISRC came from is not expressed in the MB schema in its current form
and arguably that's the right way to do it, an ISRC is an identifier for a recording, in an ideal world every release would list the same one for the same track
phoenix_05[m]
elomatreb (@_discord_681477816029675521:chatbrainz.org) hmm, but then why do tracks have multiple ISRCs?
