<musicgusto> "Hi, novice editor here. I'm..." <- I'd also like to know. I usually do two artists and add `remix` to another field that I can't remember off the top of my head

Unrelated. I am very happy that there's a community of people who are enthusiastic about metadata for music. I have been pretty OCD about music my whole life, so it's nice to see I am not alone
> A track/recording that is a remix of another recording should typically be credited to the original recording’s artist, not to the remixer. The remixer may be credited instead if the tracklist explicitly credits the track to the remixer rather than to the original artist. In any case, the artist who remixed the recording should be linked via a

So on the recording, you should add two relationships (generally). One is "artist -> remixer" to record who the remixer is, and the other is "recording -> remix of" to mark which recording is being remixed

I couldn't find out from browsing the musicbrainz set how listenbrainz matches Youtube videos with MBIDs. Where would I find that documented?

(For example, I looked at <https://listenbrainz.org/track/02c21232-89f7-40d9-8834-588d4a5d926c>, which in ListenBrainz links to a MB recording, but while that recording appears on 4 releases, but the recording's metadata don't link to Youtube, and while I'm not really familiar with how Youtube does metadata, I found no indication that they keep an MBID for things in their videos, and it'd also be quite out of their style. My best

guess right now would be that the AcoustID fingerprints linked to the recording were matched to YT, but then, somewhere there'd need to be a list of "all" candidate YT videos that has their AcoustIDs looked up, and if so, that'd probably be linked back in AcoustID, but it's not visible there.)

I think it's much less complicated than you expect chrysn... I think LB basically runs a YT search for artist title and track title and plays the first result. Someone correct me if I'm wrong - but it definitely doesn't use MB > YouTube relationships (yet!)

Thanks, that can indeed be backed by experiments: three tracks containing distinct recodings of the same work (the first three hits looking for the title, all live from different dates) indeed all open the same YT recoding.

Hi everyone, I am trying to add a dj mix from youtube to musicbrainz and i think I have mostly got it except for the cover art. I selected other as the type for the youtube thumbnail, but it does not show as the cover as it says it is not type cover, but that doesnt seem to be an option to select only front back etc?
ah, I just sent it to front and now it works, ill just stick with that :D

yeah, youtube thumbnails for music videos make sense as a front cover; just like on a physical release, they're what you see before you open and play the release :)
