fwiw, listenbrainz's youtube integration loads the youtube embedded player in the browser, which google does officially support, and video owners can choose to block if they want to. yt-dlp may or may not be an issue where you live depending on copyright and drm circumvention laws.

as far as the musicbrainz side of things - as a non-commercial project this seems fine, but make sure to follow the api rules for identification and rate limiting

fwiw, if you write your app to run in a browser rather than be a standalone or console things, that might allow you to use the same trick as listenbrainz where you embed a youtube player - could be worth it if only to avoid the need to keep updating yt-dlp whenever youtube figures out how to block it :)
