Is there any way to find out what's happened to a release ID that's no longer recognised? I've got a 12 track album which has said ID, but all the other release have different numbers of tracks.

<lioncat6[m]1> "Anyways, opened this [discussion..." <- > I’m also not sure if using “musicbrainz” as a source for metadata would be a good idea, since it seems to be a tertiary source so you can’t be sure that the given information is correct. It’s advised to take metadata directly from sources the artist/label provides, like streaming service credits or social media

Sorry I'm a bit lazy about it, but how should I create an alternate release of an existing one?
2026-03-30 08939, 2026
quinq
Should I just create a new release, and then somehow add a relationship of being alternate on the existing release?

quinq
Ok, I found the “release group” and I'm able to add a new release, it seems to be the way to go
2026-03-30 08935, 2026
reosarevok[m]
That would be the way, yes. You can reuse the tracklist too

I know... But LB's matching system is, alas, isn't so good. Like it might show a cover art for a bootleg album instead of correct single cover art

<wileyfoxyx[m]> "I know... But LB's matching..." <- friendly reminder that the much improved importer rob was working on is still a thing! iirc it just needs to be operationalized in LB when LB devs have more time
