will13337: Picard will show existing tags in the files. Inside Picard there are two main panes. On the left you have files that are not matched to any data on MusicBrainz. There you just see the tags from the files + any not yet saved changes. On the right side it shows data loaded from MB. If you match a file there you will see the file metadata and any proposed changes to it.

ok, I see. not quite sure how this would fully work. Picard has some command line options to automate some things, e.g. load files and perform a lookup. But this is still primarily meant for semi-automatic stuff. You still have the GUI, and you can review the results before saving for example.
