It’s clearly the same recording on the non-MBz sense, in that it’s impossible for even the most robotic artist to produce two recordings of guitar and vocals that are a *complete* match. So either the background vox were a separate track, edited up or down in one version, or added later. Does that constitute a separate recording from a MBz perspective?

If this artist had a ton of subscribers, I’d create the merge and let the voters sort it out. But alas, I am the only subscriber, and the artist is dead… To add to the complications, the second recording is on a hodge-podge compilation album, but the compilation was released before the artist’s own album with that track…
I don't think it's controversial to say that having a vocal track audible in one, and not another, is definitely a separate MB recording.
