it's fine to submit acoustids from streaming services, right? as long as i'm sure it's from the original lossless audio and not a home recording or something

Yes imo, if anything that's more reliable than using Picard. Even to the extent that this is a rare case where we've allowed some automation in the past: https://community.metabrainz.org/t/bandcamp-as-so…

(Not giving anyone blanket permission to do similar, each case needs to be discussed. But I guess at that time at least it was agreed that having a Bandcamp URL/relationship plus some extra filtering for mismatches was accurate enough)

well, i'm definitely not doing it in batch like that - i've only been doing it for more obscure releases where there's no acoustid and might never be one

of course after matching things like recording length and ISRC if present

I was mainly trying to illustrate the point that I think it's very okay to add acoustID's from streaming services :)
so this artist is a bit confused: https://musicbrainz.org/artist/0fc958a3-bb90-4b90… - he's American, not Australian, and he didn't write his only attributed work, he just performed it, so essentially all the information in the database is wrong. is it okay to just reuse the mbid and put the correct information in?
scathatheworm (@_discord_107461176337637376:chatbrainz.org) was this ever answered? you can add every release you've added to a collection with https://github.com/jesus2099/konami-command/blob/…, using the edit search for that

8-track cartridge. track listing 1-12 or A1 A2 A3, B1 B2 B3, C1 C2 C3, D1 D2 D3? I can't find any info and looking in musicbrainz, they are entered in both ways

with 8 tracks, sometimes you have recordings split in two and label part 1 part 2 because the recording have to fit on the 8 track 'side' hehe

1-12 would be correct as well but I feel letters give more information about sides

You can enter it like that if you wish but imho the tracklisting shown like this doesn't provide more info than using A1-3, B1-3, C1-3, D1-3. it's like a CD release without a numbered tracklist... Even if the tracks aren't numbered on the cover... it doesn't make a lot of sense to me to leave recordings without a number
2026-09-28 27103, 2026

I think we could simulate the RYM layout by dropping the numbers, but as is Suites are quite awkward

It would make sense in calssical music where a track can be a work with movements/parts
I can't see why we'd we'd split out the recording of a medley, splitting names in the title with / is what I thought was the standard XD

But that doesn't seem to work anymore since login is updated... I get proof of work now. Maybe there are some workarounds for this for people that drive web forms for legit reasons like this one. Maybe some dev can chip in. I will see about reimplementing proof of work in the pwsh in the meantime....
