      • That’s what makes it a wiki. :)
      • (But I fixed it now.)

        Oooh, an Estonian wordle clone!
      • https://mountwoolgames.itch.io/ekss in case anyone cares although I guess it's difficult to play if you know zero Estonian :D
      • atj, Freso: to be fair, that is probably a transcluded page, so not everybody can transfer the wiki changes to the /doc :)
      • But yeah, make the change as needed *then* ping one of us :)
      • Freso
        ^
      • (I did transclude it too, along with two other pages that had had some small updates; https://musicbrainz.org/user/Freso/edits )

      • basically yes, ECAU will add a link to atisket cover art which, when clicked, will automatically load the cover art into the upload form (but you still have to manually submit). Saves a couple of clicks

hi there, just wanted to ask about making track names in picard for vinyls become A1, A2 ect. currently filenames have 01 - artist - track name no matter what. any fix or ideas please?

      • derwin
        Goldmaster: IIRC, beets supports that.
      • Goldmaster
        only issue is thats cli
      • derwin
I have no idea whether Picard does, just saying that it could...
      • I have it configured such that, if the vinyl trackname is defined, it tags with both index and the non-numeric index.
      • Goldmaster
yeah just like that but for vinyls only or whatever musicbrainz says
      • reosarevok
outsidecontext, rdswift might have tips. Otherwise, the forum is usually a good place for Picard scripting questions
      • It's almost certainly doable
      • Goldmaster
        thank you
      • rdswift
Goldmaster, is this for the metadata tags, or file naming (or both)?
      • outsidecontext
Goldmaster: %tracknumber% is numeric only, intentionally. But there is also the %_musicbrainz_tracknumber% variable with the track no. written as on the MB release, e.g. vinyl numbering
      • Not sure we have this documented, rdswift?
      • rdswift
I don't think we have this documented (because I never knew about it). I'll add it.
      • outsidecontext
No, does not seem to be in the docs. So many hidden little things in the code ;)

so i just have to replace %tracknumber% with %_musicbrainz_tracknumber%
      • rdswift
I believe so. I suggest trying it first on a copy of a few files to make sure that it does what you expect.
      • Goldmaster
        yeah sure
      • rdswift
And if it doesn't work as expected, please let us know so that we can look into it. Thanks.
      • Goldmaster
humm, according the previews, its showing the tracks numbers as 00

when merging stuff, is it possible to do anything with the final product, like change track names or add references? [my current case is this: https://musicbrainz.org/edit/86685372 ] Or ... do I have to wait until the merge goes through and clean it up then?

and would i just make the changes to the "into" item?
      • ugh ... i think some fan did the same thing for a bunch of this anime's stuff
      • they duplicated each release in it's group, but changed the artist to the band name from the anime
      • rdswift
Goldmaster, that's odd because it works properly here. Are you matching your files up to a release retrieved from MusicBrainz or just using the metadata in the files (which won't make the %_musicbrainz_tracknumber% available).
      • Another thing to check is that you don't have it included in a `$num()` function, which would interpret the 'A1' etc as non numbers and thus return zero padded to the specified length.
      • aerozol joined the channel
      • If you want the 'A1' padded to 'A01' then you would need to do something like $left(%_musicbrainz_tracknumber%,1)$num($substr(%_musicbrainz_tracknumber%,1,),2) instead.

      • Then again, that will break for non vinyl numbering. You'd have to first test with `$firstalphachar(%_musicbrainz_tracknumber%)` to see if it returns "#" in which case it is not in vinyl numbering format.
      • derwin
        in beets, what I do is : track_and_or_track_alt: u'%02i (%s)' % (track,track_alt) if ('track_alt' in locals() and track_alt != str(track)) else u'%02i' % (track)
