f a release includes a designation such as EP/E.P., 7", CD, LP or single as part of its title, include it in the release title. If a format designation is not explicitly part of the title, it should not be added.

Is bandcamp able to mark a release as an EP outside the title? How do you distinguish between an "EP" that is actually a part of the title and one that is simply metadata?
In my specific case, the Spotify release resolves it; EP is not part of the title. What about in general, however?

if a release is 3-5 tracks
isn't promoted as an album
isn't named after one of the tracks on it (which may have multiple mixes)
it's probably an EP

you should check if there's a physical release and see hosw it's titled
digital release are often inconsistent between stores/sources
derwin
the place you are most likely to see the label say whether it's an EP is soundcloud or beatport, depending on genre
(as those places tend to have the promo copy)

There's no physical release as far as I'm aware
derwin: The issue isn't wheter it's an EP or not, it's wheter the album name is "X - EP" or "X"

sure, it was slightly ambiguous to me what you meant by "in general"
" How do you distinguish between an "EP" that is actually a part of the title and one that is simply metadata? " etc.

Ok, I guess it was a bit confusing.
The question is: Because bandcamp does not make the Album/EP distinction, an EP must explicitly name itself one. When this is done in the title, must that be considered a part of the title not?
or not*

what is the release url on bandcamp ?

basically the answer to your question is "online stores are terrible about making any distinction between EP, single and Album, and you have to rely on other cues"
