weird that "change artist credit" downstream edits aren't auto-edits for autoeditors...

derwin: those can't easily be undone, that's why
(I mean, they can if you are changing to a credit that doesn't already exist, I guess, but in general)

ah, in my case I was changing a ' into a character-I-can't-be-arsed-to-figure-out-how-to-type-into-my-terminal

hi, I'm adding https://www.discogs.com/release/10546665-Malcol... to MB. Since we don't have sections, should I add "[from <movie name>]" at the end of every track name? add "from <movie name>" to the recordings' disambiguation texts? (I tend towards this option, but I don't think that's nice either) or what's the recommended way to do this?
derwin
good question, which I don't know the answet to
antlarr
reosarevok: ^ ?
reosarevok
I'd just start every track with the film name, like Trapeze: Prelude, etc, but I'm used to classical style so that looks good to me. It might look terrible to you :D

kellnerd
I'd do what reosarevok said, but only for tracks 15 to 23, as track 14 is already called "... from The Sound Barrier" in the printed tracklist
antlarr
hmm, nice, I like that idea
kellnerd: if you look at the back covert in https://i.discogs.com/sqoGD8f8_5Wi0KHtiR2k0Aj72... I'd say that's in a different typography, so it looks as a description and not part of the track name (like "[arr. Malcolm Arnold]" at tracks 21 and 23 which use the same typography)
so I'd say it's ok to name track 14 as: "The Sound Barrier: Rhapsody for Orchestra Op. 38"
in fact, I searched "rhapsody for orchestra op 38" in google and the first result is a youtube video called "The Sound Barrier: Rhapsody For Orchestra, Op. 38" hehe
kellnerd
Yeah, I would not copy that verbatim, rather as ETI... but I think subtitle style as for the following tracks is also ok.
i.e. "Rhapsody For Orchestra, Op. 38 (from The SOund Barrier)"
*Sound
antlarr
btw, I thought those kind of extra information should use square brackets [] and not regular brackets ()
reosarevok
ETI is always parenthesis, we're not iTunes :)
kellnerd
Yeah, personally I also prefer square brackets and have a Picard tagger script to replace them. But the style guidelines say to use regular rounded brackets :)
antlarr
yeah, I also have a picard plugin/file naming script to put disambiguation texts and extra info inside square brackets :)
maybe that's why I'm used to see that and I thought it was the standard

is there an issue with submitting acoustid fingerprints from picard? I've been submitting new fingerprints for tracks for a few days now, but when I go back and check them, they still aren't associated with the musicbrainz tracks.
I'm on version 2.8.3
elomatreb[m]
Sometimes the acoustid servers get stuck, but your submission sits in a queue and (usually) won't be lost
eharris
is there a webpage that tracks acoustid outages/issues?
elomatreb[m]
Not that I know of. AcoustID is not run by metabrainz directly, so you can't even complain to the operators here, sorry
