Another "infra related question": My understanding is that MB is primarily hosted on Hetzner in Germany. Does this mean that MB is rather slow for people e.g. in the US or is there some kind of replication/caching infrastructure in place?
      • <reosarevok> "schickling: you should ask..." <- Thanks! mayhem now I'm curious :)
      • reosarevok
I'm in Europe, so I wouldn't know exactly, but I don't think there's a huge issue with slowness based on location (slowness based on trying to load several thousand things at the same time is more of a problem...). We do have mirrors for downloading very large files such as full data dumps tho

<reosarevok> "I'm in Europe, so I wouldn't..." <- I see. Would be curious to hear from some US-west-coast based community members what their experience is. Each MB page load takes ~600ms for me living in Berlin. Could imagine that it's rather ~1.5sec for someone on the west coast. šŸ‘€
      • crism
Iā€™m in eastern US and have never seen any performance problems from MBz, nor did I when I was based in SF or the Midwest.
      • schickling[m]
<crism> "Iā€™m in eastern US and have never..." <- Thanks a lot for sharing your experiencing. That's very encouraging to hear! šŸ’Æ
      • derwin
I mean, it's not super responsive on COMMIT type edits but otherwise it's fine
      • (from the west coast)
      • most of the time I assume it's database latency when I encounter it, not network latency
      • schickling[m]
        Makes sense. Thanks!
      • derwin
really there's a level of... expectations... I'm not sure most consumers are expecting super quick responses though they probably do have some subconscious awareness..
      • things like loading the "various artists" artist... . .. . . . .

hi schickling[m], I see you had some questions about fuzzy searching of MB data, are you interested in implementing something yourself, or just asking around to see if we do anything with it?

Is this edit correct the way it's done? One release with "Digital Media 1, CD 2, Vinyl 3"? Haven't seen it this way before. https://musicbrainz.org/release/a84923dc-83f2-4...

is it me, PanoScrobbler or the ListenBrainz API that is broken?

mukkel, you are likely better off asking in #metabrainz because that's where the devs hang out.

I'm hoping that either lucifer can help you out.
      • On a related note, are you able to connect to that ip address using your browser? If not, you might be on a block list in which case zas should be able to help you.
