LupinIII: heh. I hadn't heard of bookbrainz before, so my first thought was 'wth is bb' :P
      • aerozol[m]1
xoip: I don’t know, but you are welcome to ask for alternate functionality on the ticket tracker, or submit the changes yourself. This seems to be the ticket where the opt-out was implemented: https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/PICARD-1325

PICARD-1325: Allow disabling new version update checking for packagers
      • username7295[m]
Hello, I'm trying to use the "search for edits" feature to show me edits matching all of the following criteria: (1) type is {edit artist, edit artist alias}, (2) artist is a specific artist. However, when I perform the search, it removes (2) showing me all edit artist/edit artist alias edits for all artists. What am I doing wrong?
      • afrocat_0[m]
Tertiary: i don't know what you're doing wrong, I just tried it and works fine - https://musicbrainz.org/search/edits?auto_edit_...
      • username7295[m]
This is what I submit: https://i.imgur.com/kPlezlC.png  and the result: https://i.imgur.com/EllTt6k.png
      • The artist condition is completely removed.
      • afrocat_0[m]
if you click on the link I posted above, does it also remove the artist field?
      • username7295[m]
Yes. 500+ edits, showing all artists in results, and no artist field in the top conditions.
      • Tried your link on Chrome too since I was using Firefox and got the same result.
      • afrocat_0[m]
oh could it be because you're not logged in?
      • username7295[m]
I am not logged in, I assume that's a known thing?
      • I think I have a MusicBrainz account from contributing once like 10 years ago. Lemme try it.
      • afrocat_0[m]
i'm always logged in so i've never ran into this bug haha
      • username7295[m]
Thanks, worked when logged in. Got the info I was looking for.
      • aerozol[m]1
Hmm I wonder if that’s a bug? Logged in shouldn’t affect anything except maybe searching what user did an edit, or things like that

      • > Anyway, use what you have on your release for your release
      • sure, but should I edit the recording itself to match it? it isn't really credited in the other album the same way
      • it isn't really credited in the other album actually
      • atj[m]
reosarevok: Can we have an Area-Release "written in" relationship please?
      • dvirtz[m]
Is there a way to clone releases from the main website to the test one?
      • BobSwift[m]
<xoip> "there is build arg "--disable-..." <- That build option is to disable the update checking code entirely, and is intended for packagers (such as in Linux) where the update checking will be done by the OS rather than by Picard.
      • For all other installations, the update checking can be limited or disabled from the user's option settings in Picard.
      • dvirtz[m]
        nevermind, it's actaully already there
      • xoip
BobSwift: yes i know but auto update is enabled by default picard never ask its just enabled
      • As an example Fedora does not use “--disable-autoupdate”, I created a bug report. Gentoo Linux has it as far as I can see. I don't know yet if auto update will be removed from the gui as an option, but if I ever use picard on another platform (windows) I would like to be asked if I like auto update or not.
      • outsidecontext[m
xoip: makes sense to have this opt-in. I thought I had added a ticket for this to https://tickets.metabrainz.org, but I'm not sure right now and can't check. Could you maybe open a ticket there to be sure it does not get forgotten?
      • And yes, for the Fedora packagers my recommendation would be to disable the update check completely during build. That's exactly what the option is for
      • xoip
aerozol: i add a ticket number 2999 type is improvment because i'm unable to impliment such feature proper.
      • apppy[m]
Hi everyone! Is it possible to get a list of (or a single) completely random release(s) using the MusicBrainz API?
