        I was thinking of a similar structure to MB, which I guess at least partly mirrors the WEMI part of FRBR. Work, edition group, edition.

        there's http://bibliontology.com/specification , but it doesn't seem to have a useful human readable version anywhere, so I cannot quickly check how useful that one is :)
