Here we have 3 releases in a singe RG, when playing the file, it chooses the one without a cover...

neau: Hi! We select a "canonical" release to simplify things, as you've seen. The releases are sorted by primary and secondary type, then medium format, then date, then country, and then more.
It will sort with digital formats first (then video formats and finally analog formats), and inn this case the CD version gets selected as canonical over the vinyl versions
What you can do howerver is select a cover art from one of the releases to represent the release group
In the release group page, in the toolbar on the right, look for 'Set cover art':

Thank you!
What an odd edge case this is.

I believe that should resolve any issue with no cover art visible on ListenBrainz, but do let me know if that doesn't fix it (we might have to wait for a day, but erventually the information should trickle down)
Honestly, I think there is no perfect way to simplify this complex data into a unique selection that works for everybody's use-cases, but we try our best :)
In most cases we do get some form of cover art, but in a few cases like this one, a human intervention is required (although perhaps this could be improved too)

In all fairness the first available release cover is selected on the RG page, so it's not an empty image, but likely a caching issue, as it was uploaded some minutes ago.

Oh, for a second there it was empty for me, I concur it would have been a cache issue. The cover art is available from the Cover Art Archive after [some minutes], and then we also have a separate cache for ListenBrainz that will need to update before this information trickles down.
So I guess in that case, probably nothing more to do than wait :)
