once taz is up, we'll need to jump through a pile of hoops.

right now scooby has a connection to the outside world. none of our servers have that now.

we'll need to setup an iptables tunnel to taz.

that is one task.

the second task is to setup an rsync server as well.

rsycn is what OSUOSL uses to mirror our FTP site.

scooby was data.mb.org

OSUOSL is ftp.mb.org

i think rsync was almost set, we just need to check it works

great. once all that works and is set, we'll need to install some SSH keys onto astro. astro copies the data dumps to the FTP server.

i'll finish with nagios basic setup tomorrow morning, and we'll proceed to restore services from dead scooby on taz

we'll need to have it copy of taz instead.

my best eye opener is the bit where the maths of turning square waves into sinewaves creates echoes at multiples of the fundamental frequency
