There are also private “parcelboxes” (oversized mailboxes) for people who get lots of them.
You can put something into it and lock it, then the owner can open it with a key and retrieve the contents.
ruaok
Yes, they are coming here as well... except...
reosarevok
Yeah we have a ton of those in Estonia as well
(but I haven't seen anyone use them for international stuff)
ruaok
a lot of drop off places are other businesses. which means you need to deal with the madness of that business.
worst was having to pick up packages at a parking garage.
might as well send it to the zoo and have the apes hand out packages. would probably be faster.

SEUR has a box too. it is 11km away in a zone that has little to no public transit.
alastairp
Gentlecat: thank you

The Packstation is 100% automatic, available 24/7.
I think I have five of them in a 5 km radius.
reosarevok
Yeah, ours too. Well a few are inside shopping malls, so 9-22 instead of 24h

yeah, the DHL ones work really well, whereas DHL delivery is by far the worst.
I've yet to receive a DHL package at my house.
they just can't manage it.
> Using Packstations is free of charge both for private and business customers, however prior registration through the web portal Paket.de [6] is required for collection of parcels.
oh, so germany.
here they text you a code. super simple.
chirlu
You need the card and a code that is texted to you. :)
ruaok
the card. that is mailed to you? after you mail then birth certificates and your first born?
chirlu
They had some problems with people phishing numbers, then ordering illegal stuff or unpaid things in someone else’s name to their Packstation …
I don’t think you need a birth certificate, though. :)
But it’s a one-time hassle.
I got my card many years ago.
It’s also useful that you can have things sent to you to any Packstation anywhere, in case you are travelling.
The main disadvantage is that it only works for DHL.

alastairp
Gentlecat: do you share static content between the application container and nginx?
Gentlecat
no
and they are on different servers anyway
alastairp
right
how do you put the correct version of static content on the nginx server, then?
Gentlecat
static content goes through uwsgi
we don't put it there
alastairp

CatQuest: But Norway is so cold! You shouldn't ship your radiators out of the country! What about all the Africans working hard to get you the radiators to begin with? So ungrateful. ;_;

Freso: possibly. But I think all my applications just started failing because I was running out of storage so my computer tried to restart to fix the applications which of course messed up the install
