Gentlecat: I think I figured it out. I had never worked with macros in flask, so it took me some time to figure out how stuff was working. I should be submitting a PR (with a lot of mistakes I'm guessing) in a while.

well, try explaining

hmm, so I looked at the working of spotifyplayer and found that it has a macro defined which first fetches the urls of the spotify song and puts the player widget. So accordingly i made a function which fetches the soundcloud link if it exists from the relations from the musicbrainz ws using the wrrapper

and then use that function to make another macro which inserts the soundcloud player

so am I going right ?

or there's a better approach/method to achieving this

Are you sure? There are a lot of lookalikes, I think. There's some specific ridging that can help identify.
