ricky_d: I don't know what toolchain you're on, but «If you’re currently using the MusicBrainz web service, please try and switch your program to using beta.musicbrainz.org and see whether your program breaks or not and let us know the status of it.» ( https://blog.musicbrainz.org/2016/05/19/were-actu… )

(I guess the July 1 date for AcousticBrainz didn't quite stand up.)

Freso, Thanks, I'm using the python-musicbrainzngs library, not actually sure which http it uses but will take a look in a bit. (I see in that article that it had issues, but I imagine it's patched by now)

zas: do you know if there's any issue with Transifex? I'm getting "There was an error connecting to server. Reload", but it might be on my side

trying to access the Russian project (because of a support question) which I'm not a member of, but I guess if it was a rights issue it'd tell me so :p

zas Freso: any idea how I can get the associated wikimedia commons image for artists in MB? I am trying to write a new info dialog for picard

Freso: Jake, jvefforts, will also help with the tutorials/intro vids.
yeah, would it be useful to have that functionality?

Hmm. Given how dodgy acoustid submissions can be sometimes, I wonder how good the tags would end up being

Mineo
we have trouble getting people to understand the release and relationship editors on the website in their entirety, I wouldn't try to make yet another interface for it :)
MBS-5307: ws/2 documentation is incomplete and confusing

Oh, on that topic, when/if Gentlecat can show me how lucene scoring is being done that'd be great.

Quesito: Basically they're setting up a copy of the database without the web frontend and making their own frontend to the database.

CallerNo6
Not the vanilla scoring, but how aliases are weighed and stuff like that. The secret sauce.

samj1912: Btw, re: editable ws / ws/3, it would be a pretty big project for GSoC, but we have talked before of separating out the ws so that it can be run separately from the website itself. Which means that ws/3 could, for example, be written in Python.
Gentlecat: name added; it will take few minutes before it is usable

Freso that might be interesting to code
2017-01-27 02745, 2017
samj1912_riot[m]
That will be a large amount of code though, transferring the existing code base and then adding on it
2017-01-27 02757, 2017
Freso
samj1912_riot[m]: ws/3 would be a whole new codebase though.

ws/3 will be fundamentally different from ws/2.
2017-01-27 02729, 2017
samj1912_riot[m]
Yeah, but it will have to provide all of the current end points no?
2017-01-27 02730, 2017
Freso
I don't know how much of the ws/3 discussion exists in ticket form, but some of the differences is that we want ws/3 to more atomic - ie., smaller but more requests. Also a more dynamic rate limiting system, instead of the 1 req/s one.
2017-01-27 02736, 2017
Freso
No.
2017-01-27 02747, 2017

ws/3 is not ws/2.1 :)

samj1912_riot[m]
Hmmm
2017-01-27 02739, 2017
Freso
samj1912_riot[m]: FWIW, I would *not* recommend that you pursue this as a GSoC project. At least not at this stage.
2017-01-27 02748, 2017
Freso
ws/3 is still very much undefined and with everything else going on right now, I don't think it will have had enough discussion around it to be implementable by the end of the summer.
