Freso: do you have any preferences for when to roll out the survey? last time you mentioned Wednesday but I'm not sure if that was just that specific one or in general

Gentlecat: weird, it works here. maybe docker-compose is unable to find the entrypoint script and shows help for `docker-compose run`? Is this run with the updated image?

which image? musicbrainz db? yes

Leo_Verto[m]: I like thinking that doing announcements on Wednesdays and Fridays are nice. (~50% of Mondays already have server release notes.)

Hello :)
Freso
Last week of June and first round of GSoC evaluations are up, I hear. Good luck! ;)
ferbncode: Go!

This week I worked on the PR for using direct database for place entity. Updated the PR to use the mbdata project
Also, opened a PR for running queries on BigQuery although that is on the backburner for now until the beta

I pretty much only spent time on IRC and forums last week, but also preparing for moving again.

last week was a common theme: LB.
mostly chasing iliekcomputers with endless bugs and things to fix.
we've been damn fussy over getting things right and I think i tis paying off.
I'm pretty happy with the state of the codebase and think we can soon call it an official beta.

that said, Quesito and I got together and did some planning.

both short and medium term -- in particular we started talking about the summit.
Quesito always planning MeB World Domination.....
the only interesting thing that we agreed on so far, is that we should have a team meeting on thursday before the summit and then a community "break-out" day on friday.
during the breakout sessions we can have longer sessions on things like visualizations, ws/3.4.3, genres and other deeper topics.
the other thing we're realizing is that with so many new customers coming on, we really need to hire a part time UX person.
and to have this person really be integrated into the daily workflow of our projects.
some of the motivations behind this are interesting, and I'll let Quesito share those.
Quesito, go!
Quesito
Hola!

Last week I did a bunch of follow up accounting work. Got a few new supporters (although stealth so not public) into the QB system & invoiced. Also negotiated and finalized our renewed deal with BBC.
I finally (after a month)--finished the last of the accounting transition to following the fiscal calendar! So while we have about half a dozen accounts that still need a bit of clean up--our financial system is really organized and ready for the quarterly system of ease (I hope!).

You're doing good work, Quesito!
Quesito
:P
Other than that another unicorn has galloped through the door! And while the accounting side of things slows down, Iām turning my focus to data vis, user survey and our home page, and our classical music enthusiasts!
Freso
Public unicorn?
Quesito
If we can conquer some of the more complex UX matters of classical music--perhaps the rest will be solved for, it an idea at the moment--and a lively discussion is happening on the forums!
ruaok
not yet

Freso: when signed I believe so, currently negotiations
ah....I think thats a fin for me!
Freso
It would be great to have classical people stop reinventing MusicBrainz with much less data. :)

he was busy. with loads of interesting stuff that can't really be public yet.

I am looking for Zas as well
reosarevok
Aeromarine: meeting now, wait 40 mins :)
Freso
Aeromarine: We're in a meeting right now. Try pi... what reosarevok said. :)
reosarevok
Ok, I guess I'll go
Mostly support and editing, but
I also finally took a good look at the data from NWR/CRI / DRAM
It's good. Worth looking into importing it. loujine: would you be maybe interested in looking into that?
Aeromarine
Got it :) someone pass this message to him as I am at work, qnap just released a firmware update! And I will get hold of him after I get home.
reosarevok
If so, let me know post-meeting
Other than that, I started my mini-work for the BBC, taking a quick look at how their classical editors are doing and improving anything they mess up :p
So far, not too awful, thankfully
colbydray has quit
A couple mistakes but nothing too bad
(Freso, maybe you can convince KEXP to do the same?)
(probably not but eh)
Freso wonders when drsaunders will be back from holiday
And I think that's about it
Freso
reosarevok: I think the BBC has a lot more money than KEXP though :/
reosarevok
Other than being active on the classical thingy that I will mention later
Gentlecat: go?
Freso
drsaunders: Has still acted as unofficial "proof-editor", but if they don't take his comments/edit notes to heart...
Gentlecat
didn't get to do much this week
Freso

done a bit of gsoc reviews and helping in the past couple of days
looked into indexing issues a bit more
bitmap: ?
bitmap
I wrote a bunch of tests for dbmirror
including one for the issue that broke the replication packet a few weeks ago
Aeromarine has quit
and a few other tests the C code fails with (but not really issues we'd hit in practice)
Freso
(People still up: zas, yvanzo, samj1912, psolanki, ListMyCDs; maybe up (please confirm): alastairp, Leftmost, LordSputnik, Leo_Verto[m]; others?)
bitmap
also wrote a test implementation of pending.c in PL/pgSQL which passes all the tests, and did some benchmarks

bitmap: I think this is really going to pay off in the future. :)
bitmap
on my machine it runs within 91.5% of the performance of the C code, so I think it's worth testing further
especially 'cause it's 1/10th the size and in a safer/strongly-typed language
ruaok
91.5% of slow is still slow. :)
loujine
(reosarevok: probably yes)
Leo_Verto[m] is only here on mobile
bitmap
I'm looking to narrow that gap further
but yes, I hope it pays off :)
other than that I fixed some issues with the template renderer going haywire (lsof was missing from the containers) and helped with other small sysadmin things
fin... ListMyCDs ?

Still my main focus is on writing UI components and refactoring some of my earlier code (identifying potential stateless functions).
go psolanki!

It is close to completion
